this guy is amazing ----

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=389726&sid=9b83d46fc2ba4a5d3b68f3cb669ebb5f

but I dont want to make it look like anything else --- just drive to the boat ramp --- go in the water do 5-10 mph and drive out ----

may need a trans with a pto --- or front trans from a 4 wheel drive car ---- with a prop shaft

or just a seadoo motor in the trunk -----with a jet drive

Just re-body an Amficar. Or weld the doors shut and every other hole. Not sure how long it would float. You have your work cut out for you.

Dune buggy paddle tires

The motor is not the problem to drive the prop. The transaxle is. You need a pto shaft, which means some sort of transfer case or a 4WD selectable transaxle. No would have to adapt a different transmission to the T4. Maybe one out of an Eagle or a Brat. Not sure of the drive train on those.

Many of those old subys had a selectable transfer case. Even some of the more common ones like the legacy. You could probably reverse engineer an adapter plate, flywheel and clutch that we use in the suby conversions of just go suby power. I mean if you're going to do something crazy you might as well do something crazy right?

I hope someone actually does this. I don't think I have enough years on my life to complete all the strange projects I've thought up.

If i was going to that much trouble I'd rather build this:

....and pull a real boat with it.
