I got the pics, which are small and not great quality. the body needs work. car has glass flares and one (or more?) is cracked really bad. also looks like some rust around the sail panel chrome trim, although hard to tell since he resized the pics so small! the spec sheet looks fairly impressive, but with the body work needed I don't see this car going for a ton.

Here's a novel idea on how to hide that crack. Cover the car in sail panel vinal, and leave the sail panels painted.

What's going on underneath that sail panel chrome??? The black area I'm refering to.

Posted by: vortrex Sep 11 2004, 06:32 PM

I think that is rust.

I remember seeing this car for sale several years ago in Hemmings online classifieds.

It was for sale at some dealership online... I remember see checkered flags in the logo on the dealership website... Anyways... it's neither here nor there.

Since he's owned it since 1999... makes me think that he was either trying to sell it on consignment.. or this guy is a dealer...

Car had some issues (like the cracks), and the glass flares that turned me off.

Definitely not "factory" flares.. if the are glass.

Could be a good deal at the right price...

Posted by: vortrex Sep 11 2004, 07:09 PM

the armor all factor is high, the owner very well could be the dealer.

Posted by: SirAndy Sep 11 2004, 08:16 PM

like i said, reinforced front trunk and moveable pass. seat were not an option in '70 or '71 ...

something's wrong here ...

VIN says it's a factory six. I think it looks pretty good, even with a replaced front hood and interior from a later car (still got the correct rear bumper). Doubt it will stay below $12,000 but if it does it will be a good buy.

not replaced hood, i'm talking the trunk reinforcement. extra sheetmetal in the trunk.
that was not added until '73.
as for the interior, it's not just adding a later interior, you have to go through quite a bit of smash.gif to make the later style pass. seat working in a older car.

the front trunk and the interior suggests post '73 car, the rear trunk looks pre '73.

this car is a strange mix of old and new. that usually happens when the car was wrecked really, really bad and someone used a donor car to stitch it back together.

i'm not saying this car is, but i have seen it a few times, in fact brad has a car right now that was sold as a original /6 and it turned out to be cut in half and the whole front clip, from firewall forward, was from a later model /4.

i would really like to see the car in person or get some better pics,
just suspicious, that's all ...

Ooops. Anyone asked the seller directly about why late model front trunk and seats?
