Has anyone who runs AIM without having AOL run into any problems? Went to log on and my account was suspended.

nope, use it all the time ...

my AIM account has nothing to do with a AOL dialup-account, which i don't have.
i don't see how the two could be related ...

Only think i can think of is if you had an AOL account (like dialup service) and you canceled it. AOL won't let you use the same screen name.

Mine works fine.

They've blocked my account. No e-mail as to why. No e-mail address on the AIM website to contact them. To quote Charlie Brown "arrrrgggghhhh!"

Yeah I created a new account but I don't ever use it very much to be bad.

My stepson got on one of AOL's chatrooms & used foul language. They suspended all of us who were on the account. Even the AIM I use thru netscape. I had to call them up & promise to have a talk with him before they'd turn us back on.

No one else is on my AIM signon. AIM.com had no e-mail address for contact. Basically I'm taking back my toy w/o explaining it to you. Also AOL laid off 700 people from their HQ in Dulles just recently due to lost membership. Duh I wonder why.

I've had the same aol screen name "Galileo187" since I was 10 years old (or was it 8) and have had the actual AOL service on and off, but not in the last 6 years (at the very least). I'm sure that's not the reason you were kicked off. My guess is that they couldn't verify your email address and then put a hold on the account.

You're not missing anything, AOL SUCKS!!! I had someone hack my username and so I changed my password. Then since I have a severe case of CRS, I couldnt remember my new password. Since I had the same screenname for the past 10 years, the email address was from a long time ago and I cant get it resolved and they wont let me have it back. So when I created a new screenname, I put in my current email address. The next day I started getting about 10 spam emails a day. They sell your email address. I shut down that email address and created a new one. I wont use them for anything again. I hope they go out of business.
