A friend sent this to me. Been trying to confirm this or not. Does anyone know for sure? The website seems legit, I thought I seen a news story on this subject a few months ago but I don't remember what was said (first the minds goes then I forget what's next).

Ya what up with that, Sandy got a call from a tellemarketer on her cell. She did a search for the number and came up with some wierd thing.

when ever those tele-sales jerks call you, ask them for an address so you can bill them for your time. Also ask for the phone-dork's name specifically and tell him you will mention it on your bill

Something else that works good... For the phone sellers of newspaper subscribtions
If you just say "no thanks" they will start a f-ing debate
Instead, I just tell them I'm illliterate... Shuts 'em up pretty fast

Here is was was sent around where I work;
We need to do this on our company cell phones and you might also consider it for any personal phones. The telemarketing folks are moving to start calling cell phones to market products.
What should you do?
Call the Federal Trade Commission at 888-382-1222 to register your cell
phone on the government's "National Do Not Call Registry." The call MUST
be made from the cell phone in order to register it. You may also register
your cell phone by visiting the government Web site at:
http://www.donotcall.gov/

Depends on what they call for, but I like to F' with them.
The "You won a trip" ones I ask if it would vilate my parol, ask them thier name and where they live.
Insurance calls, I don't drive, how soon before my wife can die could I get the money? So if my house would burn down tomorrow.....
Fund raisers - Are there little kids, I like little boys. Can I play with the little boys.
Most of the time I just say I am not interested and remove me from your call list. But sometimes I feel frisky and like to fart around with them.

I'm with Dan, if I'm in the right mood I mess with them if not I just ask who they are and to take me off their list. My wife just doesn't answer the phone if she doesn't know the number. Of course they just keep trying and eventually get me.

I registered with the do not call list for my home phone when it first came about, and I haven't recieved a telemarketing call since then. When I heard about the cell phone issue, I quickly went to their website at www.donotcall.gov
and entered all of the cell phones that we have. Telemarketers are the most annoying and persistant people on the planet.

One other thing to do is when they ask for "The man of the house"
or even if its for you. Say "Hold on a minute, I'll get them".
Then simply put the phone down and let is sit there.
It is AMAZING how long they will wait. And just think, you are doing
every other person out there a favor by wasting the telemarketers
time.
Also, you can put at least 1 "Hello.... (pause)" right at the begining
of your answering machine message. That triggers their computer
s/w to route the call to the human that will want to make the sale.
Then they get to talk to you answering machine - again a way
to waste their time.
If you just want to get removed from telemarketers lists, go to this
address: http://www.payphone-directory.org/sounds.html and add one of the 3 tone sequences
to the front of your answering machine message.
Once their software detects these tones it will remove your name
and number.
On a side note, Texas implemented this DNC list before the FCC
and I signed up for it. For 2-3 months, my phone literally rang off the hook.
It was MUCH worse than before I added my name to the list.
The problem was that telemarkers were given the list in advance of
the enforcement date and they all immediately jumped on the list
because they knew that once the date arrived they could no longer
call the people on the list and wanted to make sure they got to
call them at least one more time. Eventually, everthing went quite.
I love the silence.

Another good one (timing has to be right) is when they start talking to put the phone just behind your behind and let 'er rip. When I put the phone back up to my ear (stinks now, wife hates that one), trying not to bust a gut laughing, I usually hear silence on the other end.
Someimes while they are talking, I will also take the phone in the bathroom and flush the toilet with the phone hanging just about the bowl.
