Well, I was interested in looking at this car, but the seller won't respond.

It's just a few miles from my house, so I'd at least like to take a look at it.

Something seems fishy to me....

Same here. I searched the VIN and the seller is listed here. Another buyer on Facebook looked at it and said the flares are glass and its a bad respray over the Original silver. and the guy selling it is selling it for someone else.

Always makes me worry.

I have PMed, emailed and no response.

If you are close and know where the car lives, go knock on the door -please. This seems to be a terrific deal from the description and the pictures presented thus far. I hope one of our members lands that car.

VIN is in database here under member tpines. Anyone know how to get hold of him?

Posted by: colingreene Jun 18 2015, 01:37 PM

he probably does not want you to put mustang mirrors on it.

I tried contacting as well, twice, no response... real fishy...

EDIT: I just saw on BaT comments that someone posted a link to an excellence ad, car priced at $56K.

Posted by: RFoulds Jun 18 2015, 02:10 PM

CL ad has now been deleted.

I was able to get the phone number for the broker for this car. I just left him a voice mail. Since the ad's down, maybe it sold.

Headed down to take a look at the car now. Will report back later this evening.

OK, back!

I have an offer in on the car. Need your opinions quick, stat, pronto!

Took the car for a good drive.

Engine fired right up, sounded very good.

Shifting was about as sloppy as one can imagine. If I hadn't driven 914s before, this car would have been nearly undriveable.

More rust than I had hoped for. There was no way to take the rockers off, so any purchase would be contingent on a more thorough inspection. I felt up under them... seemed greasy, but not rusty.

The car will need some significant restoration. Paint code is 80 (Ivory) and I have a personal "no black car" policy, so at least going back to stock color will be good for me.

Certificate of Authenticity has been ordered. Believed to be a numbers matching car.

OK, give me a few minutes to download pix from my camera and post them, then let the armchair quarterbacking begin!

Did you note the "low compression" in the BAT write up?
