Has anyone thought about the new 718 Boxster transplant into a 914? Form the pictures, the engine looks a little wide, but that's without much frame of reference.

It's been discussed.

I think a Boxster engine will fit, others say it won't.

If the new 718 is just an M96 based motor minus 2 cylinders it will be the same width which is the issue with the Boxster motor.

Hard to know what the demand of donor motors is going to be, but in typical Porsche pricing by the wreckers they are going to ask the moon for a motor that might not have many buyers, it says Porsche on the valve covers .

Implementing it will be the biggest hurdle after paying for it.

Converting it to aftermarket Fuel Injection might be easier buy one might leave some HP on the table.
