914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Fitting the rear shift lever into…...

Replacing the bushings on a side shift but I can't fit the Shift Lever into the Ball Cup Bushing (at the rear).
I've double checked to see if I bought the correct bushing and it appears that I have.
I've applied a fair amount of force and it doesn't seem close to snapping in.
A hard steel ball and a hard plastic cup with a smaller opening!!!
Not a lot of give.
Whats the trick?

TIA
Steve

Warm bushing in boiling water, put the bushing on the ball first. smile.gif

you can drill a very small hole in the back of the bushing to release the air pressure. lube it with grease. push it in or tap with rubber mallet.

Ok, nice to have options!

Thanks
