mueba.gif i almost have my teener on the road after a million year restoration. and i just got another engine put in it.(75 1.8) and i was wondering if it would be better to put synthetic oil or conventional petroleum in the engine. i have learned that synthetic oil is stronger and holds up to heat better that normal oil. i live in texas(san antonio) and the temps can get pretty fricken hot and i dont want to be driving down the road with my new baby and my engine lock up bc of oil break down. any help would be greatly appreciated. also any ways to help cooling and /or direct more air to the cooling fins and oil cooler would also be good thank u guys i trust someone will know how to help..

I just rebuilt my 2.0 and will be running 20-50 dino oil in it. I live in Bakersfield so I know what hot is. I think as long as it is changed frequently there should be no problem.

there's no 'right' answer to this. 20-50 changed regularly should work just fine. if this is a recently built engine that's been broken in or a real nice running higher mile engine, then you may consider switching to synthetic for better longevity. your call, though.

i plan on putting about a 1000 miles on my new engine with 20/50 before switching to synthetic...
