In between watching the crummy coverage on CBS of the San Marino Grand Prix, I installed Boxster monoblock brakes on the 914.

The adapters are shown in the photo. I think that they are available separtaely from Racers Edge but I bought a package from Paragon Products (talk to Jason). You wouldn't want 4 Boxster calipers - just the fronts. I am using Carerra rears.

wrong. bolt spacingss are different. boxster kit is also 1 grand.... and you need 911 3.5" struts..... so your better off going a whole 911 front suspension...

Damnation. I swear I saw some adaptors to fit a 3.5" caliper on a 3" bolt hole spacing somewhere..... Don't the early assdragger guys do that? confused24.gif
Oh well, looks like I'll just stick with M calipers and some fancy rotors and pads. cool_shades.gif

well yea... VCI does it.. as do others

Aaron's right, you need 3.5 inch spacing to fit the adapter. Early 911 struts have this. The Boxster calipers fit Carerra rotors. In Aaron' s case he already has M brakes so he has the proper spacing.

Righ Johnson sells a complete setup for all for corners

Why would you not want four boxter calipers?

I have all four on mine

nope. M calipers are 3" spacing. same as 914 calipers.

early cars with S calipers have 3.5, and later cars with A calipers have 3.5....

I should have been more clear in my response - you wouldn't want to use the fronts all around. If you have the complete set of fronts and rears then you are fine. You will probably need to go with a 23 mm M/C though.

Posted by: slivel Apr 24 2005, 09:30 PM

Aaron, yes you are right again. My mistake - sorry. 3 inch for the M's.

I've done the 986 F & R caliper install on 2 sixes last month, with the 19mm mc...with a noticeable braking improvement. I know of one 9146 with 986 rear calipers all-around, and the owner (Dave @ TRE) says it's the best set up for his street/ track car. I still prefer the F and R set-up. I'll prolly go to the tilton or wilwood proportioning valve next.

are the Boxter rotors different? or do those calipers work with the same 911 rotors?

Posted by: slivel Apr 25 2005, 07:43 AM

The Boxster calipers work with standard 24 mm Carrera rotors.
