Posted by: joeav8tor May 30 2005, 12:15 AM

hello,
2 AM, I just finished putting my pushrod tubes seals in, adjusting my valves, and reinstalling my heat exchangers, and exhaust. I need to know the order for reinstalling the engine tin...my friends took the tin off in a frenzy, now I dont know what order it goes in...I am trying to avoid having to put the tin on and take it off because a piece is in the way...thank you

I hope you put the cylinder tin on under the cylinders before you put the pushrod tubes on.

funny you should mention that...I did all of the above mentioned work...was going to start putting the tin on, and saw the jug tin lying next to the motor...after I finished stroking out, I removed the rockers pushrods and tubes, installed the jug tin (underneath) and reinstalled all of that stuff, retorqued the rockers and re-adjusted the valves....( 45 minutes that I will never get back) I gotta keep some beers in the garage for situations like that... beer3.gif beer3.gif beer3.gif beer3.gif

Joe, I'll see if I can help smash.gif First , I have to ask, you did put the reflector tin underneath the cylinders and heads before you put in the pushrod tubes? Now, before you bolt on the fan shroud, there are 2 pieces, that have to go on first, the one that goes on the oilcooler side, it slides down between the # 4 cylinder and the oilcooler and then sits on top of the oil cooler, there should be a rubber gasket on the bottom side of the tin, so the tin can sit on the cooler, the other side the tin sits between the #2 cylinder and the fan shroud, it usually has to be held in place as you slip on the fan shroud, these 2 are the important ones, after the shroud is bolted up, next the 2 big cylinder and head tins, then the 2 small tins on the back side of cylinders 1 and 3, all thats left is the front and back tins, thats about it.

Hope this helps. biggrin.gif
