I dont know how many of you are keeping up with UALs troubles. I was reading that the judge in the case has decided that they can hold off on required safety inspections of large aircraft that haul over 92 folks. screwy.gif His reasoning is that if it just flew in it proved it will be OK to fly out wacko.gif Kind of makes you wonder what the judge is smoking smoke.gif I know I am glad I did not go to UAL when I had the chance a while back. I would hate to have my pension messed with and be working for less than what I started at. This is one company that just needs to go away and stop sucking good folks dry. I have a few friends that I went to A+P school with that work for them and they are burned out and beat down. They get pay cuts and the big cheese gets a bonus for doing such a great job finger.gif

I don't know how to break this to you, but it's likely going to happen to you down the road sooner or later. It's not just airlines. That's the new hip business model, going through chaper 11 to "rearrange" things that you can't control otherwise, like eliminating pension obligations, labor contracts, financing agreements with banks. The telecommunications companies are going through it now too, and merging. If any large company in a traditional industry does it then others pretty much have to follow, just to stay competitive. As an individual the only option you have if you're going to stay in any of those industries? Become the boss. Other than that it's start your own business. So you can be the boss. And maybe you can hire all those folks who are outsourced. Hire 'em cheap, too, probably.

Do you remember Eastern, TWA, Braniff, Peoples, the list goes on and on. Its not a new thing in the airline industry. What is new and scarry is the judge letting inspections slide. I dont know that he has the authority to do this since it is a schedual that is part of your MPM aproved by the FAA. I think they would override a judge. The lay offs and give/ take backs are part of life in this field. When Braniff went through it the pension was paid out at 5 cents on the Dollar sad.gif
