we honestly should do a calender with member's cars in it..... or something.
Care to take on the project?
I say the calendar should be the female members with 914s...
I think we talked about that before though.. don't remember why it got shit-canned
yeah i wasnt going to start that convo back up, but i do notice we have some pretty women around here
well okay, i suppose i would need 12 914 pictures and/or 12 member pics......
and then i could compile them into a calender.
it looks sweet...in my head.

I can't guarantee that he'll do it, but my uncle does this sort of thing for a living.(and he is usually willing to help out a nephew in need!) His work is awesome. I will talk to him and see what it would involve and what the most cost effective way to do it would be. You can check out his work at:

If you use CafePress.com services you just need 12 pictures @ 200 dpi and I don't know what the dimensions are but I'm sure they specify that too.

200 dpi? if they're bigger than postage stamps, watch out for pixelation... 300 dpi used to be my minimum for the newsletter, and those were small pictures... |
OK, now you made me go look it up
Their Calendar template specifies 13 pictures (one for a cover I guess)
11.4"W x 9"H (trimmed to 11"x8.5") @ 200 DPI or PPI
2300 pixels W x 1800 pixels H
Certainly wouldn't hurt to have higher resolution pictures but they do have to be uploaded, so file size could be a factor.
"CafePress.com recommends shop owners create their images at 200 DPI to maximize CafePress.com product quality and image upload efficiency. We have run extensive end to end tests on all our products and have found that there is no discernable print quality difference gained by exceeding the 200 DPI recommendation."
http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/sell/images/help_images
OK, on your marks, get set, go!
I would just use pictures of the cars themselves, without girls and such, I've seen lots of calendar worthy pictures posted on various threads.
HIEDI
wow.
If they weren't too costly I'd proll'y take 25 - 50 to send as New Year perks to my warehouse distributor cust'rs
I thought of doing up my 914 as a calendar deal-but don't have the time.
MF
We have talked about a calendar every year.
Now is the time. Let's do it.
We need to decide if we want just cars or cars + models.
We can have people submit photos and then vote on the best.
yeah. we should do that. anybody have pics? Meredith, i know you will be able to borrow a car.

Best of luck guys.
The biggest issue I had when trying to do a calanger was the image sizes. I could only get a handfull of photo's that woul actually look good when printed close to 8x10.
I even tried to add a 1" border to make smaller photos work...Looked cheesy
I also tried to have 2-4 smaller photos for one month to keep the required photo size down...Took alot of work and I am better with a wrench then Graphics
There area lot of GREAT phot's out here but they are just too dam small.
BUT..............
If everyone that can takes some high res photo's over the next few months (until Oct) maybe it will be possible. I think I have 2 high res photos from the last (my) calender try.
Cheers

Since this would be a 914 club calender, I think it is important to accurately represent the true cross section of 914s owned by club members. In other words, roughly half of the photos should illustrate 914s holding down jackstands, or with rotten hell holes and longs, etc. In fact, I nominate my car, as in its current state it would perfectly illustrate one of the cold and dark winter months as it awaits rebirth in the spring. Heavy.

Here are some suggestions if we don't limit the calendar to "pin-up" type.
Set a time period ~ 4-6 weeks of submissions, then the garage can all take a week to vote for 12 images. We could even "create" extra months since we need more time to work on our cars.

I'll try and get some to you by the end of the weekend.I don't want to be the only one sending in pics, though.Hopefully the others will send some in.
Just as a thought, the calendar doesn't have to be limited to one car per month. You could do a collage for each month of two or three cars. Maybe put pictures from an event in the past on the current month. For instance, for Sept 2006, you could put pics from the Sept 2005 Red Rocks Classic. Just an idea...
I can send pics of the last time my car was out of the garage... 2 years ago
I can send pics of a MESSY (dangerous to walk across messy) garage with a 914 and parts...
or, hopefully soon, i can send new pics of the car on he road again!

OK, now you made me go look it up <_< Their Calendar template specifies 13 pictures (one for a cover I guess) 11.4"W x 9"H (trimmed to 11"x8.5") @ 200 DPI or PPI 2300 pixels W x 1800 pixels H Certainly wouldn't hurt to have higher resolution pictures but they do have to be uploaded, so file size could be a factor. "CafePress.com recommends shop owners create their images at 200 DPI to maximize CafePress.com product quality and image upload efficiency. We have run extensive end to end tests on all our products and have found that there is no discernable print quality difference gained by exceeding the 200 DPI recommendation." http://www.cafepress.com/cp/info/sell/images/help_images OK, on your marks, get set, go! |

Was playing with a collage / mosaic program and came up with this. Printed it looks killer.
The pic is borrowed from "Yarin" or someone taking a pic of the car.t. Obviously, reduced for forum, original, more than large enough for print. 3528 x 2040 x 16m 8.0 mb original.

I'm the originator of the mosaic, and I wouldn't mind its use. Now the originator of the original pic could object, or anyone who has a pic they can identify in the mosaic. As for the pics from ebay, if they sold their cars there, odds are they would never lay eyes on the 914 calendar. Then again, how could one argue a very small portion of the mosaic was theirs? Again, only true issue is the Motor Trend pic and Porsche ads. I can try and re generate if people are interested. |

I am over here in Santa Cruz for my sisters wedding tomorrow, 9\15.

I'll be back home on Friday and will submit some then, maybe our Bricks could make the calendar, huh?

Excellent!
a http://photobucket.com/albums/y93/werksracer/914ClubBricks2/ to the other pictures that I took.
Where they're at:
once you get to the Corkscrew, and you were looking at
the track, turn around, the Bricks are in front of the
little Vending station that sells cold beverages.
Here's a funny story......
my dad and I drove into the track on Wed, the roads
that go ALL the way up to the top were locked up,
so we drove up as high as we could,
then, for some DAMN reason, I decided that I would
try
to RUN all the way UP the hill!!!
My dad was quite surprised that I made it as far as
I did, 'bout 3\4 the way up,
but then I ran out of Oxygen! lol
I actually felt light-headed, and walked/stumbled twice,
I had to Bend over a grab my shorts numerous times,
desperately trying to catch my breath!
It took me about 35 minutes to STOP breathing REALLY,
REALLY hard!
Thanks Scott.
Bricks don't rust, do they?!?
So I'm thinking that someone from the SF bay area can order 15+ calenders and distribute them to others (like college students) to save money. Now I know your thinking why don't I do this myself but I have to pay for school so I'm on a budget. So if somone is willing to order a bunch, I'll send a check to you for $10. Let me know. I'll definitly be able to pick it up by mid december after finals, or some weekend when I go home.
So... do we get to see a web page hosting thumbs of the chosen photos?
Oh, and if you do decide to use the picture of the Winter Wonderland Bumblebee, and want to photoshop my dumb ass out of it... I won't be offended at all.

As far as availability goes, as long as I keep it 'available' on my CafePress.com store page, anyone can buy it. Buy whenever and as many as you want. I think they even offer discounts for purchases of 15 or more at one time.
So I promise not to touch it until...when? April?
