Why can we not combine this with JRust's gathering ??

I'll drive up the first weekend of August.. fly out the second weekend to Watkins Glen..and then return to drive BACK to Seattle.

What happened to a "winter" time frame ??

I just checked, John Walkers Swap meet is on August 16th. So you local guys should come up for that in the morning (opens at 8am and is over by lunch) and then go to Korijo's ( he never gets up in the morning like Brad).

Let me know when the date becomes firms. I may try to come.

I'd fly into Seattle, right?

I'd probably arrive that night (7:00pm to 9:00pm time frame). Could someone pick me up at the airport?

I'd need a recommendation of a place nearby to stay. Nothing fancy, just safe. I know Seattle is large and has good places and bad places.

Into SeaTac airport not Boeing Field. I might be able to put you up but I'll have to ask Monique as we might already have guests.
Where to stay? Look for hotel deal on Orbitz and a stay near downtown. Do not stay at a place on Aurora Ave as those are by the hour. Dave lives in Fremont so maybe a hotel near Eastlake (SilverCloud I think) or Westlake. Hooters is on Eastlake too.

I don't necessarily need to shack up with anyone (unless she's cute, single, and won't tell my wife.) Just kidding.

I just need a hotel or a street nearby with decent hotels on it. I've never been to Seattle, so it would be like throwing darts at a dartboard as far as location.

Thanks!

Oh... and of legal age too! hee hee!

Posted by: rhodyguy Jul 22 2003, 09:46 AM

i see to remember some mention of dave's car being in bell town (seattle neighborhood). if that's the case, stay at the westin. a little spendy(but less than a steering wheel, 6 con, flairs, fancy seats, etc). fantastic location. close to monorail, westlake center, the pike place market. when we stay there my wife gets a discount for being a teacher. the mayflower is nice too. don't get one of the cheepos on aurora ave, unless you want some hookers or crack. just book at the westin. tell em you want a western exposure. $1,000,000 view.

Kevin, where have you been? Daves car was in Belltown what a year ago. He and the car are in Fremont.

Karl, yeah there are so nice views from Belltown of Elliott Bay. I'll get online tonight to look for a hotel.

No No No, Karl. I don't want to impose on your Kobe affairs tongue.gif , but you are more than welcome to stay here...

And we can pick you up (w/ the new van, hopefully)

Posted by: Qarl Jul 22 2003, 02:37 PM

Okay... I can come as long as I get a confirmation that this is the weekend. I'll need to book my airfare once I get a thumbs up.

I'm looking forward to meeting some of you guys! mueba.gif Oh yeah.. and meeting Dave to.... just kidding!

is it going to be both days? what with all the stuff i hope to unload at the swap i have to take the ford p.u. on sat. "why did you drive a truck with a bunch of crap in the back?". " where's this phantom car you allways post pictures of ?".

kevin

Posted by: John Kelly Jul 22 2003, 04:28 PM

Hi Kevin,

Yes, both days. We know you have a nice 914 (insert smily emoticon). You can drive your truck. I'm driving mine when I really should be driving a Ghia right? At the moment, my dream car (mid-engine, gullwing doored, flared, and channeled Ghia) is a pile of parts, and 10 years or so away from being finished. Are you in for after John Walkers swapmeet?

John & Dave,
My son and I are in for the 16 & or the 17th if I don't have to work (Work for Lowes, I"m suppose to have that weekend off) Mike&Aaron

Posted by: rhodyguy Jul 22 2003, 04:38 PM

john, i'll hit walkers gig early. i figure the serious buyers will be done by 11. pack up then drop down the hill to freemont. prob sun as well. then i get to drive up in the appropriate vehicle. so i'm in. i was wondering how things were progressing w/ the ghia. for those that don't know, mid engine ghia, still with the gull wings?, 914 trans, punched up t-1. the hotroded bug you told me about is thought about frequently (walkers).

Its more organnized now, and will be more by then. Lots more room. We can also move stuff out, but not the car... Besides, the private garage will muffle (somewhat) the palm nailer's racket-.... I mean, "beautiful music" smash.gif
