914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Anyone in the Bay Area have a '95 993 we can look at

Posted by: Cairo94507 May 19 2024, 07:30 AM

Hi Guys,

We are getting ready to tackle the wiring for my '95 993 3.6 going into my '71 914-6. We are hoping someone local, (anything close to Tracy would be great; we are willing to drive regardless of location) owns a '95 993 that is still stock. We would love to come over or meet somewhere to look at the engine compartment and all of the wiring so we have a road map of sorts to wire my engine/car.

We would just come see it and look and take photos to help us as we wire my car. I tried calling Patrick Motorsports and they were not helpful.

I know this is unlikely, but thought I would put it out there.

Cheers,
Michael beerchug.gif

@http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=179 - That would be great. Did you meet Greg yesterday at the breakfast? Let me talk to Greg and see what works for him. Thank you very very much for the generous offer.
Cheers,

Too bad Greg did not get a peek at SirAndy’s car yesterday. If that does not work out, I have a friend with a 993 in the South Bay. I reached out to ask what year it is and to see if he would show you the goods.

@http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=9712 @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=179 Not sure I'm the most convenient location for a meet up of the interested parties but I'm happy to host another "Porsches & Pizza At The Red Barn" as the basis for your look-see at Andy's car. Just let me know.

Thank you very much Chris, @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=19241 and Mark @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=20897 for your generous offers. You just have to love this community! Let me see what we can work out. This will be very cool as it will get us to the point where we can install the 3.6!!!!! beerchug.gif

Either way works for me, the Red Barn is about the same distance from my house as Tracy.

I'm always up for a nice drive ...

Just confirmed that my friend’s 993 is a 97 so is not a good specimen for the cause. Love the idea of a Red Barn meetup nonetheless.

@http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=179 - Thanks a bunch. Greg says he is really looking to see the stock setup in a '95 993. He says that will tell him all he needs to know for my electrical. @http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showuser=20897 - Thanks a lot; yeah, we need it to be a '95. Later years switched to Varioram. Thanks again to both of you, I really appreciate the help.

I have a lead on a guy with a '95 993 in Danville who has reached out. I am hoping he might be able to take his car to the Diablo Region PCA Wash 'n Shine at the Danville Livery on Memorial Day so Greg could check it out there. Greg has entered his car in that event so that would be easy-peasy.

I will update this thread as we make progress. beerchug.gif

It is not so much the switch to varioram as it is the addition of the immobilizer in the later models.

That's why everyone doing conversions wants the 95 harness.

Good to know; thank you. beerchug.gif

I thought that the VR intakes were too tall for the 914 engine bay?

The immobilizer thing makes all kinds of sense, though, especially for the 911 guys wanting to swap...
