914World.com _ 914World Garage _ A new series begins - I bought a -6!

Posted by: iankarr May 21 2024, 08:57 PM

Hey Guys,

Happy to report I bought my first -6 and first barn find! Well...a shop find, really. It's been in the same family for 45 years and inop since 1981, so I think it qualifies. The only thing missing was dust wink.gif. Originally a Signal Orange car, and it will be again. Eric Shea and I traveled to Louisiana last week to do a PPI, and that will be the first episode of the new series coming soon.

Now I've just got to get it from Shreveport to Salt Lake City. Things are busy so it will be difficult to take 4-5 days off to drive there and back with a trailer. But I will if I have to.

Anyone have leads on a shipper who can handle an inop vehicle? The car is complete but the engine is out, so that will need to be loaded separately. There's also a few parts bins.

The car will be undergoing a nut and bolt resto, so it doesn't need the royal treatment in transit. Just need someone reputable who has insurance. My usual guy doesn't go through Louisiana so I'm looking for options. Thanks!

I'd pay one of us to go pick it up. You know some peeps in SLC that might have free time?

Resto means putting the warts back on... icon8.gif

Posted by: iankarr May 22 2024, 10:36 PM

Thanks Guys.

Original six. All numbers correct. Can’t wait to to tear into it.

I’d consider paying someone here to pick it up. Anyone game?

Congrats. I'd go pick it up. I realize it may be tough to get away, but an inop car with engine out, etc. will be difficult to deal with for a typical shipper, and expensive.

Can't wait to see what you do with it. Did you sell your Bumblebee?

Posted by: infraredcalvin May 23 2024, 06:53 AM

Congratulations! Looking forward to the videos, looks like a great starting point!

Masney Auto Carriers , they may have a transport in the area; ask for Keith 407.267.7637. Not a bargain but you get one of the best !

Congrats Ian. See, all the help you have given us via your videos has paid off. KARRMA has come around to bless you. Looking forward to the new videos.

Lucky Duck...I have a shipper I've used, but I think he does more east of the Mississippi work. Sounds like you have some good suggestions.

Real /6 work to go with your /4 videos will be great.
