When I took my car apart the door thresholds were held on with 24 white nylon or plastic rivits.
Does anyone know where to buy them?
I don't see them listed in any of the popular places.

they seem the same as in the old VW bugs, but i haven't compared them side by side.
ask you local VW shop ...
Andy
On my car they are attached with pop rivets. However, I used these type of fasteners all the time in products that I design. White might be hard to get - black should be easy. Since I don't have any, if anyone wants to send me a couple, I can see if I can cross them to any commonly available similar fasteners.

Not sure how far off they are in color, they are listed as "off-white"

Those are simply plastic blind rivets with a mandrel that pulls to expand the rivet tail and presumably the mandrel breaks off. My understanding is that the originals are plastic rivets in which you push on the mandrel into place to expand the rivet tails. Then you can further push the mandrel right out of the rivet for removal (and reuse).

Hey Demick,
I've seen those in white like how you describe, I just cannot remember where now
There are a number of manufacturers. Richco has a variety of styles. Problem is, I've never actually seen a real one (not conciously at least) so I can't cross it. Mike probably can.

You can get them new from porsche. They are now clear plastic. white and black are nla. they are called threshold rivets. if you local dealer can't get the part number let me know. It's also listed in the AA catalog if you need the number. The vw rivets are not the same, I tried.
I bought them in clear at Partsheaven in Hayward $1 each (ouch)

I tried them. I went as far as sending them a clear rivet to see if they could manufacture it in black. Their responce was no. They didnt have a match for it. Buy it from Porsche. I thought they were cheap. Better than paying a $1 a pop. They said if the rivet is made of nylon, you can use black fabric dye on it. The type that comes in a powder you mix with water and heat up. havent tried it yet.
The Porsche part number for the threshold rivets is 999 591 550 40
I did a search for that part number over at www.stoddard.com and got this when I checked stock for 24.
When I was searching for threshold rivets, it seemed like all I could find was white when I was looking for black. I got a bunch of different nylon fasteners from Microplastics, Inc. for FREE. I ended up using black 'arrow clips'. They look great and hold real good.
