I plan on using Stainless hardware to install my new header system. To attach the stub pipes to the exhaust tube flanges.
What is being used to attach the collector to the exhaust tubes?
SS springs? What size and length?
regular springs?
bolts and nuts?
Where have you gotten them once you have decided?
my eurorace had bolts..... wierd...
What ever you do DO USE SS nuts on SS bolts without using anti-sieze.
SS to SS will gall and and sieze-up.
Best would be SS bolts and the Copper exhaust nuts.
Ken
come on now!
Yep - SS to SS is a no-no without a lubricant.
Google
"stainless steel nuts and bolts seize"
My Tri-Mil 6-into-1 tee-pee header had provisions for springs. Someone tack welded it together instead.
Seems like a good idea to me.
Assemble and install the exhaust, then tack a small bead between the collector and each pipe.
Could be taken apart if needed. Why would you, though

OK so I won't use SS hardware without using anti-sieze, or just use some plain old nuts and bolts.
What I am really interested in is what folks are using to hold the header pipes to the collector...springs, nuts and bolts, whatever
Guess that is one more item for your punch list Aaron?
Change that hardware
This is the piece. SIX tacks. No schprings...
Survived desert racing.
Also my test exhaust
