Do I run:
6's & 7's (I have 2 - 6's and 4 7's in Indy)
7's
6's (I have 2 6's in Indy and 4 on my blue car -until the flares are on-but it's in LA)

Car is a 2.0 Euro-stock fendered (and plan it to stay that way). It may get a six in a year or so. 3 Season nice day car.


Whichever way I decide the wheels are going to Al Reed for refinishing.

I hve 6's and 7's on my car. Had to bat them to get the 7's on. Run sixes unless you want to play body man.

7" Fuchs won't fit out back - also batted mine and was sorry for it. It cracked the paint. Even then I ran 205's on the 7's.

205 tires on 6's worked fine. I wouldnt imagine you need much more with a 4 cylinder motor, especially stock.

Now, I recall 7" cookies or phone dials working - different offset. JP - was that you?

I was able to get 6" early Fuchs to fit 205's with no problems.
When I went to 7" cookies I had to roll the rears pretty well to get them to fit, plus cracked the hell out of the paint.

I run 7's out back and 6's in front. Had to pull the rears about 3/4" using 205/55/16 tires.

Have seen one 914 with 7's all around that did not require any mods. He was using 205/40/16s.

I prefer the look of the 7 inch rim and am considering buying a pair for the front of my car.

Running 6's up front with 205/55/16 tires and 7's in the back with 225/50/16 tires. Yup had to bat the rear fenders a bit. The 225's on 7's tuck under the fender but too close to my taste, thats why i rolled the rear fenders. It cracked the paint, i cleaned it up and touched up with a paintbrush, sanded and polished and it doesn't look too bad. It's not concours (and it will never be).

I tried the 7's up front and it looks better that with the 6's.

I'd go with 7's in back and front with 205 up front and 225 in the rear (if it fit's).

I do have some camber in the rear so it help to tuck them in.

If you want to run 7's in the back and NOT bat the fenders, you can do what Rich Johnson did on his
yellow car and machine the rear arms to fit the 7's..
However, I don't know the details, but remember him saying it was a pain, took a lot of time and $$$...

Wes Hildreth at H&H did it for him. He narrowed the trailing arms. Rich still can only run 205's on 7" fuchs though.

Definitely 7" fuchs. The deeper dish on the wheel looks much better than the flat look of the 6" wheels. We are required to run the 15" wheels in our class and their lighter weight and smaller diameter is a plus anyway.

Also consider that running the same size wheel and tire at all four corners makes tire management easier. I can swap tires front to rear when necessary, we don't have the heavy rear weight bias like a 911 anyway.

So 16x7's FUCH's will fit in the front and back? Or is it only if a certain offset or other mod to the trailing arms is made?

I want to run 16x7 FUCH's on my 3.2L conversion without batting any of the corners....

Timo also did this modification as well, in fact I believe he built his own fixture for it, pretty slick !!!!

What I'd like to see, is someone do the above modification, but take it even further and re-design or notch the trialing arm, re-locate the rear shocks (at the top) and modify the rear trunk walls so that widened Fuchs can be fully tucked under the car with no fender flares at all
(starting with a 6" or 7" Fuch and widen it out to something like 9" or so with all the new material on the inside)


This would be easier with an non-trailing arm suspension from a 993 (I think) or even a Boxster (A-arm type setup I think???)

205/45/16 Dunlops were on all four corners when I was running 16x7s with the 911 offset on my yellow 75 and they did not require a bat job.

You can run 7's front and rear. It comes down to what size tire you want run. Typically you cant run anything larger on a 7 than you would on the 6. It also has a LOT to do with what tire manufacturer you go with. Not all tires are measured equal. A 205 race Hooiser measures 225 (as an example)

7X16 205/55 in the rear with a little rolling "ROCKS!!!"



Just take your time and go at the rolling slow and easy and it will work out really nice.

I have 6X16 205/55 on the front and the combination looks very classy!
