914World.com _ 914World Garage _ what glue??

Posted by: East coaster Sep 5 2003, 06:59 AM

My passenger side window has come loose from the metal guide channel. I know this is a common problem on the early window design ('71). Does anyone have any recommendations on what type of adhesive to use to fix this???

Thanks in advance!

3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive. Part no. 0 51135 - 08001

It comes in a red box. Available at most auto parts stores. The guy at the parts counter recommended it to me for glass to metal bonding. It has kept a replacement mirror securely in place on my tow vehicle for 3+ years.

IIRC, my windows had some kind of piece of rubber or plastic between the glass and the metal that gripped it at the bottom.

Am I making a mistake, and thinking of the 1974 Bumblebee's windows?
