914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Sudden Electrical woes, no headlights or wipers.

Posted by: rpmmaxxed Mar 16 2006, 11:25 PM

Apart from a starting issue that may or not be solved yet(it is intermettent), My headlights and wipers, as well as my cd player are no longer receiving power.

Cleaned all fuses, contacts, nothing.

All were working at one moment, parked car, and went to use them yesterday afternoon, no dice.

interior lights still work, but headlights will not lift. and when manually lifted, no light.

Wipers do not go on or off.

Radio is dead.

Any ideas guys?

Check for power going in to the fusebox. Look at the wires at the positive battery post. The Cap'n

Color wiring diagrams, FAR better than you'll EVER find in any Haynes manual, are available on Pelican's site. You can just read them on your screen, or print them out. The Cap'n

I was just working on a very similar problem as my fresh air fan and wipes didn't work. Turns out they are on the same relay. As for wipers and headlights, I would check the wiring diagram but I think that you may have a ground problem. Check the grounds at the left front headlight bucket. I cleaned all my grounds and replaced the relay and that fixed everything. Seeing as I wanted to take care of any future problems too, I cleaned the fuse panel terminals with the copper brush on my Dremel tool.

With so many things not working at the same time, my prime suspects
would be ground cable at battery and of course the positive cable. Jank,
twist and pull, see wether something comes loose. Remove cables
and clean posts. Good luck. Dimitri
