914World.com _ 914World Garage _ Rear trunk lock - how to open

Posted by: luizhen Sep 22 2003, 03:55 AM

I have a 914/4 1975 German spec, and my rear trunk lock is jammed.
Does anybody knows how to get into the trunk for make the repairs?

Get a 4 foot long extension and open the engine bay lid and then push your socket through the gap into the trunk and unbolt the catch from the lid and then open!

You make it sound easy! laugh.gif

or drill a small hole right above the lock and push the lever back with a small screw driver. icon8.gif

But frustrate yourself to death with the socket extensions first, so the drilling doesn't seem so bad. lol3.gif

A few months ago I was looking at a car for sale. When I pulled up the rear trunk mat there was a 5 inch square hole cut in the rear center of the floor.
Same problem - different solution. smash.gif

I like that solution. It evables access to the rear trunk when the lock is stuck, and it drains weater from the trunk floor. aktion035.gif

Luiz,

Welcome to the BBS clap56.gif . I'm pretty sure you are the only Brazilian on the BBS.

Marks answer is about the only way I can think of.

Somebody on the BBS has to have had this problem in the past.. ANYONE ??

That is the answer unless you cut a hole, Brad.

Cool that there is a 914 in Brazil!! Welcome.

Now how about some pics!!
