I have a stock 76 914 2L that smokes quite badly upon deceleration, mostly downhill deceleration. Doesn't matter if in 1st gear or 4th, nice whitish cloud of smoke follows. I read in one of these posts that this might be caused by worn valve guides. Any other causes? Since I'll have the engine out to fix leaks, etc. I would like to take care of this at the same time. Thanks, John VS
That is the typical symptom of worn exhaust valve guides. Time to pop the heads off, at a minimum.
