I have been working on my garage for couple of months. it was unfinished block walls with spiderwebs everywhere and one light bulb in the middle. NOW its supercool workshop, it is small about 10ft by 19ft, but its not the size that counts right?? Anyway I bought some framing studs drywall pegboard paint wire track lights flourescents etc, I probably spent about 2k including the garage cabinets and my cooler. I hope this inspires someone.

Looking good!!!!
Heres ours, its basically finished, just doing some things inside. The 2 bays on the left will be ours, and the rest will be rented. If we ever need more space, all we gotta do is take up another bay.
Looks great - mine is getting usable now that I have some power without extension cords. Nice color on that 914
It looks like a great solution to a neighbor who think they should be able to tell you what to do and when to do it...
Working on power
I went overboard on the electric, there are 28 recepticles in my garage. I had a few extra knockouts in my breaker box. You can never have too many
Looks great! Plenty of room in there. You don't want to see a picture of my garage.
not my garage,
...but i wish it was!

that's not a dream... that's a fantasy!!!!!
Have you seen Jay Leno's garage?
Well, mine is
spelled the same way.
Nice job.
I have been real lucky. I have a very very understanding wife We have a three car on the house and I get two bays for my "stuff". Then this last fall I was offered to go half on a 2500 shop. Only cost me $315 a month
Attached image(s)
You don't want to see my garage
Its full of shelves with car parts and work related tools and my 914 on jack stands being restored. My wife gives me crap about it all the time when she sees empty
garages in the neighborhood.
Heres the typical garage. There's even 914 content if you look hard enough.
You people are sick.
A garage is supposed to look like this.

Still way too much room in there JP.
Here's a garage full-o-crap...
Here's the state of my disaster.
I'm in the middle of 4 projects today.
I'm ashamed.

Here's an older pic of mine, have painted the exterior since...still no progress on the inside, it's on high priority for this spring/summer though.
Had something else to finish planning this past year that took up garage-finishing time (worth it though).

Mine has all these other guys working in it all the time.
Thanks, I love the Revolution. In hindsight, I'm glad I paid more for this unit that the cheaper ones out there. I have looked at some of those since I got mine and you can see where the Revolution is Beefier where it counts and if anything ever happens, I can get parts. I'm thinking I should get a discount on my Hurricane Insurance as this is now the strongest part of my house.

It's an optical trick. Here is a picture of when I ripped the old roof (it used to be a carport) and the new roofline.

I kind of have a mess going on here. Some of the older photos, the mess is not as bad. Uhmmm......I need to clean shop. But I still am able to get a little done. Garages also need an old sink, so you can wash parts and not get yelled at.
Attached thumbnail(s)
Not mine.. but a nice size garage....
and not a single porsche...
Just finishing up the stucco today.
11' side walls, 10' doors, and 16' clearance in the bays

All the way up into the rafters?
That's nothin. Plenty of room yet. I'm going to send you a PM about a part I'm needing.
Anyone have garage updates from the past 3 years?
Here's mine...need to get rid of some clutter (motorcycle in the foreground!)
Excuse the crummy phone picture.

My garage last weekend...one thing leads to another then the whole front end is off...
My old garage is on page 1 of this thread. I'll have to get some decent pictures of the new one.
My garage used to be nice, now it's so full of junk i could be on one of those hoarder shows.
Qarl built himself a really really nice garage in his new house i dont have any recent pictures of it but i might be able to dig something up but it is huge and very well done. His 914 is still on jackstands.... .
My garage in the background. I hand cut and nailed every one of those cedar shakes on the gable. I have a half story over the shop for stuff.
My second garage. It sucks. It's at the bottom of the driveway and fills with melting snow and rain water. Barely good storage. Oh, my M3 is under that lump of snow.
One of the inside photos
Big enough that I can put the 914 on dollies and turn her sideways and park my jeep in there and still have space to work. I have cleaned it up and made different messes multiple times since this pic was taken. The only problem now is that I'm spoiled and am afraid to sell this house and move again.
Here's my side of garage at our new place. The side my wife parks on is still pretty plain. You can't see it, but just to the left of the shelf is a kegerator.
Attached thumbnail(s)
Not nearly as nice as some......but 914 friendly:
Mine is still being setup the way I want it. Bought the house/garage in the fall of last year. The garage is a detached 3 bay with two bays together and the third was added later. These pics are of the two bay portion which is 26 x 23. I hope to be done with the two bay soon.
Attached image(s)
Iiiiit's baaaaack, looking good!
I'm so proud of all these great 914 garages, great stuff.
I need to move out of the bay area CA. Then I could afford a pimp garage like those above....or I need a few hundred extra grand.
Horrible picture, but it is the only one that has double teener content.
My 14 year old son did this.

I used to park out on the street and so it is nice having a roof over the 914 and Jetta's head even if it isn't fancy.
Here's a slightly older picture of my garage - Sparky (the 914) is outside, and Wolf (my wife's 911) is inside. Sean is, as usual, posing in the picture.
This is what my garage looked like before I owned a 914..
And this is what it looks like with a 914......
Here are a few pics from the garage:

My little slice of heaven. 450 square foot 2 car garage with a full attic to hide all of my crap in. The guy who had it before me used to restore old boats so it was already set up as a shop with nice solid workbench.
I love having a detached garage, I can make all the racket I want without bothering the wife!
Gotta have a fridge for the beer!
It is easy to work year round with a Reznor gas heater taken out of a school's gym, heats things up fast!
Nothing special for me, simple two car garage attached to the house. It's actually the 1st floor of the house. When the kid moves out in a couple of years, I plan on converting his room to more garage space. If I do it right, we can fit 4 cars in there. Done it a few times in the past.

...two years ago, just before I bought the steel flares:
installed 911 front end with new rotors and aluminum calipers;
and adjustible rears...and a '71 Ghia.
This is organized compared to what it looks like now...
there's a work bench where the fan and the weld rack is now,
and covered in Ghia parts and engine components...
but a couple of cars...

my garage is a disaster. it's 40x60 with a number of wonderful perks, sitting on an acre of ground, so plenty of storage room and drive around. Although the subject of this photo is a 47 harley. you may be able to see a yellow 914 peeking through the mess. Sitting next to it is my 1.7 1973, 914

Wow, some of you guys have serious issues!
Here's mine:
30x26 "2-car" garage. Looks a little different now, but still laid out about the same.
Notice the color coordinated to-do list?
So I'm blaming this on Joe O'brien. Joe came to pick up my 914 for a little body work, which turned out to be a lot of body work, but in the process he go a look inside my garage. I was out of town so my step son helped Joe, Joe commented to him that my garage was a mess, and what is up with those cabinets?
This quickly got back to my wife, who quickly fixed the problem by telling me that I needed to repaint the garage floor and get rid of those ratty cabinets. Several weeks later and hours of hard work, here are the results. I wish Joe can come in and commented on my wife's kitchen. I did not do before pictures, as I forgot. I even added a tv so when I am banished to the garage, I have something to do. I know the checkboard is cliche, but I still like it. Next stop, kegorator.

My garage/shop. 1600 sq.ft.

The 914 just squeezes in here...
It's not much to brag about but considering the 914 has a first cousin now to keep it company its not a bad pic. Wish I had more room in there. Maybe sometime soon I will get around to reorganizing.g it. As I am looking at some great ideas in this thread, I am feeling motivated to do that soon.

The shop where the cars are kept was great. Space was getting tight (had to shuffle stuff around a lot to get work done), however the cost per square foot was really cheap and quite frankly, I loved the space. Well, we got lucky, due to some bad luck. The building went through its normal inspection last year. The fire marshal said that the wall dividing my space with the empty space next to ours was not up to code on several fronts (the electrical was scary). The wall would need to come down and be rebuilt. The owner of the building was not happy – and neither were we, as having that sort of demolition going on meant all of the cars would need to be stored elsewhere until the process was complete (and I was damn sure not going to pay the guy rent during it all). After some talks, we came to a great deal for all involved. We would move the cars out to a different on site storage facility, they would tear down the wall – however the wall would not be put back up and we would get the additional space at an extremely reduced price per square foot. We would pay for any specific improvements. It is almost done (all the cars are back inside - just some small trim work is left). I don’t have any pics of in its current state, but here is a before and during picture. We did keep a section of the second floor and turned it into an upstairs loft that is open to below (just has half walls/ railings.). It is almost time to start hanging junk on the walls and have the local gang over for a BBQ (especially with the weather we have been having – awesome.)
Here is an old before pic right after moving in - I put in the purple arrow as a reference:
In process (note purple arrow)
The short wall left up high will be the railing on that side of the loft. The loft ends at the end of that wall. A post was put in and everything else was gutted.
Very nice garages guys, I have actually moved since I started this thread, and my garage is now a little smaller . But... its not the size that counts
I just started the renovation, when I bought the house the garage came with 1 light bulb in the middle, and one outlet in the corner
I will update once I get a little further.
Okay, I finally got myself a small shop to keep my cars in and still have room to work on them. I have some serious cleaning and organizing to do and I still need a lift or two but that will all come in time.
So your girl friend or wife autocrosses?
Those are her Miatas....right?
I'm just jealous, i've only got 20x30
Thats a small shop?
Damn Shoe - that is some serious square footage! How long till you fill it up?
Here's an old picture of my garage, 25 X 25, still looks about the same just minus the 914's.
Then a year or so ago I turned most of our barn into a shop, then added on to the side for an office and storage. The main shop area is 25 X 34, the added part 14 X 28.
One of these days maybe I'll get it finished.
Jeff
14 X 21 one car. Enough room to restore a teener and easy to heat. Heavy duty mezzanine shelf to store parts. I'll probably put a small air conditioner in the window If I ever tackle another car project.
Not as clean or organized as most of yours, it's a busy place the wrenching never stops as long as it's not freezing.
What can I say, it keeps the snow off!

Sweet! That would have been my choice. 4spd?
AMC was trying to establish a performance image with that car, the only 2 seat US coupe besides the Shelby Mustang. They were a little late to the party since the muscle era was winding down just as they were gearing up.
My resto area 14x22. I'll finish painting my stripe someday. Have to keep the teener in the 2 car and park my daily outside, because my wife insist she gets a spot to park her car.

I have spent the last year after my move turning my warehouse space into my new garage and workshop. Now a place to work on the GT and get out of the way of my wife. Badm
Wow Don! I've been looking for something like that as well. Glad you found something
Here are some pics of mine, no matter how big you make it there is never enough room.
When Betsy came to visit.
The shop grew too much and I lost all my space.. Then I bought a Mini- Storage business and stored my cars there... Now it has grown too much, and I am out of space again.. It was costing me money in lost units to rent out.
So, I have been building this for the last 10 weeks. I dried it in last week, ready for rough inspection as soon as I finish the siding!
Ugh, the D-type..
Outstanding.
just a note here on the amc v8s.... there is no big block / small block.
there was first gen engines from the rambler nash years
then gen 2 or short deck 4yrs from 1966 to 70
and tall deck 1970-91
all displacements used the same block with different bores and strokes.
Was Jay driving a blue / silver Maserati today? I saw a silver headed guy driving up Clearwater Canyon road around 9AM that looked kind of like the man...
Sorry for the long shot but I wanted to get it all in the pic.
1974 Bumblebee and 1973 2.0. Oh, and a 1974 Thing.
