I just signed up, see you there!
Signed up, flying up Thursday , Holiday Inn reser made
Now that is what I am talking about!!!
Hi Guys & Gals,
Things are shaping up nicely for the WCR 2008 Ramble.
We have close to thirty registered for the event, with the standard procrastinators among us ( I'm one ); this is going to be quite the turn-out.
Here's what we need to do by May 1st:
Get signed-up at your Hotel of choice, the Holiday Inn ( they reduced their price to $106.) is our host , they have been very good to us so far. The Motel 6 is a nice spot just across the street.
Get your money sent to me ASAP ( I'm currently unemployed & need a trip to Costco) We just need to get a few of the goodies going.
We have some great fun planned:
Friday's jouney to Port Townsend via a ferry ride should be a very memorable trip. Larry (LS6/914) has some fun and sights planned for us.
I was hoping to be able to subsidize some of the $40.00 roundtrip ferry ticket but I'm not so sure at this point...bring the $$$.
For Saturday the one and only RhodyGuy ( Kevin ) is working on a route up and over Mt Rainier for us! ( I'll set up mountain rescue in advance); if we all make it down the mountain Saturday nights banquet should be a spiritual event.
The driver on the 5/01/08 cut-off date is the hotel. Once the rooms are released it's every man/woman for themselves.
A gigantic to Rob (Conedodger) for keeping this on Page 1 the entire winter!
It's still up in the air whether Rob can make it but he get's free either way.
I'm still having fun...
Greenie
Looking forward to it. Can't wait to meet some of you guys in person. Though I may not be able to be around for the entire event I will be there as much as I can.
Im really excited for this years WCR. When will a list be posted of whos registered and payed up? Can't wait!

Top 100 Reasons for going to WCR in Seattle:
Reason #100: Next to California the largest number of 70's sports cars and the people who love them are in the Pacific Northwest. Let's go find out what keeps them there...

You chose the same week end as the Portland Historic Races?? Why?
There was going to be conflics no matter what weekend we did it. Had to just pick the date that would work best. The weekend before is the historics are at Pacific Raceways. It is a very nice track to watch them at.
I can't get the hotel linky to work. I sure miss getting to talk to someone before I hand over money. Old Fashioned I know.
Just wrote out my check. It will be going out today. I am hoping to bring my son (age 9). We'll see how that pans out though. Not sure where all the events are. If we are doing any meeting lunch or dinners in bars that kind of screws that up. Also who knows if the wife will go for it. Any Mariners games that weekend? Be a good excuse to catch one
Jamie - I think my family will be tagging along as well - two girls (6 & 9).
Lets make sure we coordinate an Oregon to Washington caravan. Is Coy attending? Just checked the above list - yes he is.
there is a nice state park nearby on lake samamish. the lake warms up nicely during the summer and i think it has life guards. boutique style shopping at burke-gillman village in issaquah. i haven't been there in ages, so that's just a guess. the little ones will be fast asleep when the wolves are baying @ the moon.

Reason #93: Lots of fun activities, LOTS OF VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY!!! There always has been at every WC event. You can't beat having it in your backyard either. Be there.
hell yea!!! screw the $75!! just show up!!! if something goes wrong up around sunrise your on your own. bring your own food and drink. money is tight for everyone these days. planning in advance (say 2 months) = $2.50 a day, so the "money is tight" deal is kind of weak. save your quarters. easy to tell who didn't pay too. no lanyard, no entrance fee. no goodies, no maps, no secret handshake. i'll bring some cones to mark off freeloader parking. haha.
k
Top 100 Reasons to go to WCR in Seattle:
Reason #92: I have only been to two WCR events but I thought I got my moneys worth both times. I have yet to see the meager entry fee not cover the value of what I got... I am just the cheerleader here. Greenie and Rhodyguy are on the team. If you wonder what you get for your money ask them... If you ask nice you will probably get a respectful answer.
This is my opinion only. I think the food is nice, the beer is good, the drives and any track events are OK. The real fun for me is the parking lot stuff. The BS and attaching faces to names is great. Stories of the old days and some of the characters these cars have attracted are great. Checking out the cars is great. The journey to and from is great (not much travel this time for me). It's tough to put a price on that stuff.
Dave
Well worth every dollar. This will be my first WCR and I am looking forward to it.
I started to sign up for this at least three other times and always got pulled away. Whew just made the deadline!
Oh, Curt the check is in the mail......really.
Jim
I'm still out here lurking, but thought I'd chime in and say I just signed up and reserved my room. I'll be mailing my check tomorrow. Don't think my car will be ready, but you never know...miracles do happen. Look forward to meeting you all.
it was nothing personal. click on the banner for all of the exciting details! if 410 is drivable, we should do a practice run next month and stop at the natches inn on the way home.

Top 100 Reasons to go to WCR in Seattle:
Reason #91: To meet the "persons" behind the "persona"... That is worth the price of admission all by itself.
curt, when we do it you should scout out the path down issaquah-hobart-valize-enumclaw. we can do the meet up in enumclaw if that works for you.
k
If you guys want someone to come along on the trial run I am in After all, I don't know how much of the WCR I can make with the new born on the way.
the more the merrier jon. mid week or weekend makes no dif to me. just a nice weather day. if we were really adventurous we could drive down the hill to packwood from chinook for the scca event and return via skate creek rd. this would be a great drive. prob a bit exhausting for an "old" guy like me but i think i can handle it.
k
Sounds like a good plan to me

[/quote]Mr Greenie i have an acre of land and if someone needs a spot to park there RV i can help them out (must be self contained) it is in tacoma with easy freeway access and they wont have to pay for an RV spot in a park.Just thought i would offer Ihave room for about 5 RV`s with car trailers..25 minute drive to the WRC event..........let me know

seeing as how you're new and all...beautiful cars are required to remain 1 mile behind the pack so the rest of don't look as bad.
Yeah... Mikes car is a very nice looking 6. Makes me glad my car is treated as a race car. I can't compare to his.
Just found out that my cousins wedding is the weekend of the WCR. So I won't be able to go.
A drive does sound good though!
is your cousin getting married ALL weekend long? she/he still has time to reschedule. i'm still doing the deed on friday.
Yes... that is correct It's just that easy

Curt,
Actually if my wife thought I had a girlfriend I would be pretty much toast. She is a filipina and you don't live through that revelation.
I hope to bring both her and our son but she may still go to the Phillipines without me. She misses her family a great deal and was planning on this trip. I just don't think I can get Institutional Review Board approval for the study in time to get decently priced plane tickets. I am lobbying for a December/January trip which she will want to go on. She wouldn't trust me in the Phillipines alone. I guess white guys are a big aphrodisiac for filipinas...
Yeah... guys... I'd love to go the the WCR but I think I need to go to the Phillipines

all things considered, the front anti-sway is simpler than the bumper deal. esp if the control arms have the factory brackets on them. certainly quiter and less SPARKY...

Did you go golfing at New Castle? or just up there for a drive?
It is beautiful to golf there though. Been there once. I think I lost 12 balls or so I try to stick to the public courses though. I've only been golfing 13 times in my life and 9 times since I got married.
You guys should play golf like my friends and I do... Each of us starts with a dozen balls and we can inspect each others bag to make sure there are no extras hidden. When the game is over, whoever has the most balls left wins. Almost no math involved! Plus, it fits our game
Thank you everyone and good night. I'll be here all week.
I like to golf when I have to wait for the next AX. Besides, it something I can do with my father-in-law.

for a single person there's alot of value for a measly $75. nice job on this curt. at 9:14 am sat july 12th your cars should be warmed up and ready to roll. 9:14 am SHARP! next fuel opportunity will be 120 miles or so down the road. there should only be 3 manditory stops after clearing issaquah all the way to Whistlin' Jack's. it's a gas station/large mini mart, nice roadhouse, good burgers, cold beverages sort of setup. nice parking lot. it's going be fun filling it up with 914s.
first relief stop will be that near cliff i tried to tumble down trying to get rid of some coffee. on the way back we should stop at wapito woolies in greenwater. they have nice touristy sellection.
Kevin , how many miles total is the mt rainier tour ?
depends.
So will you plan a pitstop about half way at a Chevron
just for fun we may make an abrupt right hand turn up crystal mt blvd on the way back.
approx. ?
Should I bring the CaddyHauler???
What is the attire going to be for the dinner banquet?

I will not be able to coax my 914 off jack-stands before WCR.
I will be trying to mooch rides. I rather be a passenger in a 914 than try and keep up on the runs in my Accord.
I'll try to keep the Accord out of the pictures though.
honda parking will be at the rear to the far left.

There is a few of them. Dino and Dave Hunt live there. Greg Fordahl lives out there. I am sure there are a couple others as well.
I think so. I am pretty sure Dan will be there and Dino will likely show up. Greg is most likely somewherewith his race team. He is the Chief engineer of Alex Job racing and does other stuff for other racers as well. Rather hard to get a hold of him during the summer.

Reason #19: Ok, this one is on the DL. We need to gather intelligence on Canada. Some of them may come over the border for the event so we will question the ones who do without arousing their suspicions. We need to know where they keep their oil... Bush has only about six months left so he will definately attack at least one more country. I figure it has to be Canada... A little history on " The Soggy Side of Nowhere"
Back in November 07 when I first announced that the WCR08 would be held in Seattle one of the first posts was from some dipstick in Orygun... Craig I believe from Camp924.
He said something like "Seatlle !" thats the middle of nowhere"
shortly after...
SlowCal said something like" it's always raining up there" it's soo soggy"
SlowCal later photoshopped the teener onto the space needle for us.
Thats the story...

Beautiful morning in Port Gamble. When you get on the ferry be sure to check the views of Mt Baker to the north, Mt Constance, The Brothers to the west in the Olympic range. A word of caution as you cross the railroad tracks when boarding the ferry, there is a dip between the rails. slowly approach at a angle. Exiting the ferry on the Kingston side the two lanes will merge right to one. Speed is 25, WSP sits in the parking lot on the right at top of hill in real estate office. See ya Friday
Tomorrow, I'm looking for a volunteer to do one of two things...
I want to get a photo of the cars on the ferry, so I want to walk (run!) off the ferry as soon as it docks. In order to do this, I'll need a driver... I'm looking for someone to either give me a ride in their car, or for someone to drive my wife's Mazda 3 off the ferry for me.
Any help?
Hey Todd
If you get someone to drive your car off you shoulb be off well before the cars go by walking. They let the pedestrians off first then start to unload cars.
