".......make sure your shifting hand is in good working order, because the 29-mile section toward town is a mountainous playground of short chutes and switchbacks, characterized by sheer rock faces and a few ridge passes so narrow that the vertigo-challenged should keep eyes straight ahead........ "
The highlight color is "sand". Best I could do. I was looking for something that would more closely match the red/orange/iron-ish sandstone color of southern Utah, but all of the reds were too dark on a monitor and washed out the secondary title text. I might try a look again later tonight. I'd like to see it on a couple of different monitors also.
I'll be there. I read that article too.

Sweet. Thanks Gregor.
Can't wait!!
Giddyup! Looks like a great location. Closer for NorCal & SoCal. So they have no excuses. Longer trip for AZ Anyone have a quick way around that little ditch at the north end of our state?
Evel was going to use a rocket...
Just this last weekend I was participating in the PCA-SVR CRAB weekend. There was a person from PCA-SNR there who was organizing a tour that was going to do the US 50 route all the way across the state. This would be the route for us NorCal guys. He said it was one of the most interesting drives you could do. Extreme rural Nevada. Sounds like fun. I hope I can make this one.
I'm planning on it, just hope the car is back together. Went to the painters end of Nov and he said it would be done by the end of Jan. Talked to him on Monday and he said another month.
Current condition A/O about 3 weeks ago.- not really much progress but lots of excuses.
I can attest to that, and the paint is sooo good that application and removal of copious quantities of blue tape have no discernible effect.....
Nothing like a good faceplant to spice up the night! ...let alone two!!!!
ok Ferg....can I afford him?
Google Maps tells us NorCal guys to head south and go through VEGAS!!!
Bay Area to Vegas on Thurs 18. (10 hour drive)
Vegas to Torrey on Fri 19. (5 hour drive)
Torrey to Bakersfield on Sun 21. (9.5 hour drive)
Bakersfield to Bay Area on Mon 22. (5 hour drive)
[EDITED to say Torrey, thanks Greg!]

It is 420 miles for me round trip. But....we are taking both cars so doesnt that mean it is 840 miles round trip for us?
Do we book the hotel Or ?
I drove 1400 for slits maybe last swap meet
No doubt, I am in , I have just seen info for hotel and was looking for any other info. about event.
Here's the info I can give you so far
It will be run as other Red Rocks events in the past, and will go something like this:
Friday night: Meet and Greet and BBQ at the hotel
Saturday: -Rise and shine car show
-Morning Drive with an afternoon stop for lunch
-After lunch, you are on your own to explore.
-Banquet and awards show at the lodge
-Drink in the parking lot til you can't drink anymore
Sunday: There are usually a few groups that gather for breakfast
Registration should not exceed that of past events, and it covers 3 of the meals listed above. It has not been set yet, but I am going to guess that it should not exceed $75.
And there you have it
Gint's right, the scenery is like none other, and the friends made at this event are priceless
There are two National parks in the area. I am sure that at least one of them will be on the agenda to visit.
And I do advise you to book a room soon.
