So yesterday Rick Evans (2-Oh), Mike Dodgen (Mike D), Leaman, (Heeltoe) and myself participated in the TRE Motorsports Santa Monica Hills run. It was a great day. There were over 50 P-cars; 5 of which were 914's! Part of the adventure was stopping at Kundensport. There are some amazing cars in that place! They are in the process of restoring a 917. But, what I was most interested in was the very first production / demonstartor 914/6! This was the first 914/6 released in Europe as a "public demstrator" car. It is chassis #011. What a car! (BTW - they are planning on having it complete in time for the GAF in Ventura in September). The car was set up for local racing so it has GT rear calipers, early S front calipers and a front sway bar. Also, anyplace where the regular 914 was spot welded this had a total of 4 spot welds in the same area. They said it definately made the car stiffer when they had it on the chassis machine.
Here's a shot from the front. That's Mike Dodgen And Leaman standing next to it. Mike wore his glittler laced Piloti's just for the occasion.
Here's the dash. The car only has about 9000 kilometers on it.
And of course the engine. What also makes this car rare is that the numbers all match; case, engine # and all body badging.

Like I mentioned they plan on having this car done for the GAF in ventura. It's ready to go back together. I look forward to seeing it again in one piece. Oh, and the owner of this car also has an original 914/6 GT that he is also planning on bringing to the GAF.
Twine plug motor was in the first euro car ??
yupp - and as you can see, it has a 10k tach
What is that car doing in CA? What is the history? Was it found in the desert?
hehe
Here are a few more pics... and a bad pic of a framed publicity photo

And here is the 917
Exciting isn't it
A few more from around the shop...
Nice wall paper on the paint booth!
And next what to do with that old 928 motor (no offense Rick)

Beautiful! Thanks for posting those. Is this the car Eric Shea posted pics a while back on the brake restoration he was doing for it?

The flaired 914-6 is Armandos GT, Tony's is yellow was at gaf in 06 ?
the flared car in the pic is Armando's extremely correct GT clone. #11 is Tony's and is a narrow bodied car as seen in Steve's pics (those calipers look familiar? Check the classic threads). Tony also has a yellow dealer built GT that we did the calipers on.
The car came from the Wigglesworth estate and from a friend of the family prior to that.
I spent a few minutes looking at that one too. Didn't look like the 928 motor I remembered...
Love this thread! Motivating me to get off my a** and in the garage...
Thanks for sharing.
The blue 356 Carrera Cabriolet was once Ferry Porsche's personal car.
