This http://www.delorean.com/ offers used, refurbished, and new build Deloreans using original parts. They also offer upgrades for the car, but no flux capacitor for time travel.
Yes
Cool. Just ordered one.
The flux capacitor is NLA but you can probably find one on eBay. Mr. Fusion, on the other hand... good luck with that.
Hmmm... so you have to pay $63K to get the 197 horsepower engine. If I had that kind of cash to plunk down on a new car, I'd be ordering a Corvette. DeLoreans look wicked cool, I'll give them that... but the price/performance isn't where I would want it to be.
That is too cool for words.
If I was a rich man, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
Zach
Zack is right , way cool! 57,500 for a basic one , add 10,000 in options it's still
cheap. As for the lack of the Flux Capacitor , I know someome on this site will
find a way to build them . I will act as the official order taker:
Send your $250.00 to me and I will forward it to you ,( along with clear
installation and use instructions ) . To be at a later date!
Order NOW as we expect the supply to go quickly !!!

I was watching that on Modern Marvels last night. I was suprised to find out someone actually saved all the old stock!
Engine by Renault...enuff said...
I owned one during the '80's for about a year. A buddy needed to divest himself of his worldly possessions during a divorce to look like a pauper and I was willing to help out in this small way.
First of all, total chick magnet. Drove it to a 4th of July fireworks display and as I drove through the parking lot with the gullwing doors open women practically dived in. Second, a rocket through the gears in a straight line on the freeway. That Renault engine will get out of it's own way. Third, heavy and not such a good handling car.
Glad I was into it for a few thousand with a guarantee I would get my money back. Has cult value though.
Feeeeh!
I'd buy it as a cruiser. Who cares about turning on I83. its a straight line! And the bastards in baltimore would not be able to chip and scratch my paint any more.
Zach
D'oh! Double post. I hate those....
I watched Modern Marvels last night too. Had to DVR the clip showing Delorean in mid design with the 914 cutaway and a Fiat cutaway on the wall. Too bad the Delorean looks more like the Fiat.
This thread needs more DMC porn.
Zach
IIRC they had 14" wheels in the front and 15's in the rear
The high performance engine option gives a whopping 197HP... Hell my Bus has more power than that!
DeLorean should have kept making GTO's.
I like the engine in the original.
Designed by Renault, Pegout, and Volvo....
No one wanted the motor, no one would put it in a car.
Delorean stepped in and got it for a song.
Rich
Already been done.. Twice that I know of.
Ah the delorean. Looks fast but drives super slow. Really was just a terrible car.
Well, the Ferrari 308 wasn't all that fast either, but I wouldn't kick one out of my garage.
I guess maybe I'm wierd but I think my 88 gt fiero is a much better car with it's 3.4 and chev's hottest cam and headers. Now if I would just build it a larger intake manifold and throttlebody. Or swap in a 3.8 with the 4spd auto. Actually the 3.4 at about 6k rpms doesn't sound bad.
I'd like to see a DMC lowered with a nice suspension, 18"-19" BBS's and an LS1 V8 stuffed in there. Then I'd REALLY want one.
I'd take one just as they are.
Yeah, BTTF was one of my formative movies.
Yes, I do understand that they are not really time machines.

During my work day I pass by the Florida Delorean shop located in Bonita Springs. They usually have 5 to 15 Deloreans parked along their building. Cool sight to break up the work day.
I think I am going to swing by the factory here while I am in Houston today and maybe pick up a tee shirt!
I keep thinking the Delorean would be a really cool car to convert to electric. I've got tentative buy-in from my CFO (wife) for this as the next car to convert. (My electric 914 project is finally going to get batteries in the next month or so).
I swung by the one in Texas this morning on my way to the airport. I was able to get a few pics from the Blackberry. Pretty cool. It was like stepping into the 80's. (and yes, I bought a shirt)
I *WISH* I had known about this when I was in Texas last November. I would have stopped in. I would have taken many pictures. Erin would have dragged me out before I did something really stupid.

Finally making good on my screen capture...sorry so late.

OMG!
I totally forgot about this when I went back to Texas last month for my Grandmothers funeral. I guess Houston is a bit far from Denton for a road trip... But I would still have loved to see the dealership.
Zach
I live no more than 2 miles form the Florida Delorean shop in Bonita Springs, like my compadre in Ft. Myers said, they always have 8 of the silver beasts sitting out. They have also hosted local PCA Breakfast Club events. The site is rather strange sitting on a major road leading to the Gulf of Mexico in a nice building and all of a sudden it's the land of brushed Stainelss Steel finish....its a very interesting place.
Jakes right they need more horsepower!!!
Vysoc
Stop this.....now. I was around when they built these cars. If I remember correctly the weight ratio is somewhere around 60/40, sixty to the rear. They were piles O' _ _ _ _. This is why today one can buy a used Delorean for little money. They will never be worth the hipe then or now.
I love how they come in so many cool colors.
You can get any shade of stainless under the sun.
