Next up is re-doing the interior of the 6r. I've bought a pair of Sparco Pro 2000 seats, and designed my own Trick looking aluminum seat brackets.Wait til you see the pics. The backpad is gonna be removed, and an access hole cut in the firewall for access to the fanbelt.I've ordered authentic German Perlon to cover the firewall, and Chris Foley up in CT.is gonna fab me up a custom harness bar to tie it all together. Stay tuned. Ron Entries on Monday 25th June 2007
Finally finished it up,and put most everything back together. I gotta order new sail panel vinyl, and new moulding, but that is about it. I got the flares on the group buy in February? Started the Switch in March, and Finally finished the entire job is June. For reference,I did all the work myself. No subcontracting of anything. To add it up for anyone wondering. The flares were $750.00 delivered,About $700.00 in paint supplies, and a good 200 hours in labor. Now I'm gonna replace some rubber pieces, replace the tail light lenses and such. I'll probably have a little over 2 grand in it complete.Doing it myself. I'm into the final stretch now. I put up my $100.00 outdoor paint booth, and painted the rockers, rear valance, and the inside trunk floor. No bugs or trash in the paint.Color sanding and buffing are gonna be a breeze. That high end Diamont paint can make anyone look like a hero. One more nice weekend of rain free sunshine and the quarters will be painted and this chapter will close. Ron Attached thumbnail(s) Entries on Wednesday 13th June 2007
I haven't posted an update in a while, but I have been working on the rear flares steadily. Everything is pretty much done. The rockers, and rear valance all line up to their respective edges. The epoxy primer is laid for the final time.I'll soon be wet sanding it to fully level it out, then everything is ready for the final top coat. Top coat is RM's Diamont basecoat clearcoat in Signal Orange. At $450.00 a kit for the paint, that is why I'm taking so long to get it as best as I can before the final topcoat. It's almost done, but not soon enough for me. Ron Attached thumbnail(s) Entries on Monday 9th April 2007

This weekend was a good one for the old flare switch. Got the repo flares cut and started the 2" widening process. The amount needed to widen is shown in the photo with tire on sticking out past the stock flare. Tire is a 265, on a 18X10 rim w/a 40MM offset setting on a 2" spacer. I've now got everything about 60%done on the rear. Hopefully I'll be completely done in about 2 weeks. Ron Attached thumbnail(s) |
