So, back to work on the teener. Both son's graduating in a couple of months from college, so freeing up some $$$ to get the car moving again. After not wanting to believe several body shop opinions, i decided they were right and I needed to strip the car. There was at least a couple of resprays on it. I think I've removed a couple of pounds of paint so far. At least that's what it feels like.... Attached thumbnail(s)
Taking a break from the hell hole. I'm putting in Maddog's stiffening kit. I'm trying to get all the structural repairs completed in the next month or so. My wife needs me to get the garage in order for my younger son's HS graduation party. She sure has her priorities mixed up! Attached thumbnail(s)
After a long hiatus, I finally started working on the project again. I picked up a nice set of repro 4-lug fuchs and tires. Spending money seems to always motivate me. I have about half of my hell hole area repaired. I still need to clean up some welds, but the engine shelf is in. I will continue working on the rusted area of my firewall on the passenger side. Did a little more work on my passenger wheelhouse/jack post area. I hope to weld the repair panel in this weekend and move into the engine compartment/firewall. I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. At least in regards to the structural repairs. There is plenty more to do...... Attached thumbnail(s)
I welded the new jack post to my wheel house section that I'm replacing. Haven't ground any of it yet, but maybe over the weekend. I hope to finish prepping the inside and get this piece welded in so I can start to address the engine compartment, shelf, and firewall. The pic taken in place is just an initial test fit. The actual square tube rotated slightly and is not perfectly aligned. I don't think it will impact anything. Attached thumbnail(s) |
