Finished priming, painting, and clear-coating the area under the roll bar. Gonna pull the tape off tomorrow and take her for a spin. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/thumb3d.gif) You made this project possible Doug. Here's a huge Thanks! to you and Rusty Acres! |

Not today, but on Thursday and Friday I removed all FI parts, then I pulled the engine. I also had all the bodywork/rust repaired, primed, sanded, then two coats of base and two coats of clear. Will wet sand, buff and polish soon. Once it's completely painted, I'll share a picture. It's the original color, Adriatic Blue.

Drove it...then re-installed the clean rear window. Congratulations Craig on your 1st drive again with your project. Is this VTO 7” wheels I got from you supposed to be for that car? Hey Noel.....no,.....those wheels were for another project that I sold. They look great on your car though....did you go with 205's?...and how did they fit? I never mounted tires on them. |

[/quote] Tires are yokohama 195x60. 205 might be too tight for 7”. It looks just right but probably on sharp turn it will grind the inner lip fender. Maybe after alignment and good rear higher spring rate will keep the height stable. Note: fenders have been pulled a little bit from previous ownership. |

Didn't have time to actually do anything, but I did receive a set of GT Trunk Hinges from @ValcoOscar They are absolutely awesome.
...and in true Oscar fashion, he also gave me an unexpected, and very nice key chain.....which I really needed. Thanks Oscar! As everyone here already knows, he does great work, and he's even a better guy! |

Drove it to my local "go to" tire shop and had the tires and wheels balanced and rotated. Turns out the guy that runs it is an old VW guy who built is first engine when he was 15. He was pretty stoked to see a 914 and even had his crew look up the torque spec on the wheels, and they used a torque wrench to tighten them instead of the air wrench. I thought that was pretty cool.
Then I drove it home and replaced the vinyl on the roll bar. Not perfect, but the trim should cover up my imperfections. Big thanks to 914 Rubber for selling me the vinyl w/o the sail panel pieces. |

Drove it....then installed refurbished latches and covers courtesy of Bruce Stone, as well as a new targa roll bar pad from AA. The fitment of all of the parts was pretty good. As has been discussed before, Automobile Atlanta's roll bar pad is made of a harder material, and the finish is different, but I was quite pleased. Obviously, I'm the furthest thing you can get from a concours guy.

Tightened the clutch cable. Had been a little hard to get into first. Installed it not many miles ago so assuming it had stretched. It definitely helped. Still not 100% on how to set the pedal stop. My leg is not long enough to cause it to bottom out. Will try moving it down a bit.

Live fast or get Passed...
I did this yesterday. The white paper is a pattern for the end of the fan box, it has too many holes in it. The relay gives regulated power to the ESC's. Just about ready for a test to see if it will all work together. Shameless plug... Have you seen my build thread over in the Paddock??? |
