recently got an old console for my 14. started to strip it all down to recover it and I have found the driver side side panel has an offset towards the back (front of car). the wood looks broken where this is not so much properly bent. so should this be here of should the side panel be flat. it looks like it is there to provide a little more space for the pedal/foot assy. but it also looks like a P.O. modification,. any ideas?

Not broke. That's the way they came. Porshce had great mechanics and assemblers, but their cabinetmakers sucked. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I thought the same thing when I stripped mine. It looked as if the bent piece and the sraight piece were stapeled together. Quality workmanship.
