I just started driving my 914 again and have noticed a very small puddle of transmission fluid right underneath where the linkage goes into the transmission. It is a side shift setup. Is there some sort of o-ring that goes in there that I can replace to stop the leak? I've never removed that part of the linkage before so I don't entirely know how it goes together. Any help would be great! Thanks!

check out this link. I have the same problem, but it's a small leak so I'm just going to change the seals the next time I change gear oil.

I'm only seeing one seal that looks like it is for this fix...
http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopca..._pg2.htm#item13 Or are they both there and I'm missing something? Please let me know. Thanks! -Chris |

I think the other seal goes on top of the console and is part number 999-701-359-40-M30.
Here is the Pelican link with some figures: http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearc...-701-359-40-M30 I could be wrong though. I just see that it is a little bit wet above my shift console and I'm hoping this o-rig will fix it. |

your both right, there is a seal AND an oring. the oring is 1mm x 40mm IIRC. i will double check when i look at my notes. you will have to do an oil change to replace them. the console sits below the oil level. its a pretty easy fix..... messy, but easy.

There are two spots!
One is where the console goes into the trans and the other is where the fork shaft comes out of the console. . do both at once! It's very easy .. I'm in San Jose, let me know if you want a "straw boss" Sean |
