I have Dr Evil's rebuild DVD so I'm going to tear it down completely tomorrow and see how extensive the damage is. Looking through the side shift console mount hole at least two of the gears have completely chewed each other's teeth off. Anyone have any experience of what would cause this? And what other damage I should be looking for? Is there a point of no return where it makes more financial sense to buy another used 901 rather than try to rebuild it? Just trying to figure out what my options are. |

Unless you simply don't have the funds for a good used one..... where do you think the debris went, all to the bottom vs contaminating the rest of the trans. .....simple answer. |

By the sound it made my guess is the chunks went everywhere and then some. The oil wasn't low, I replaced it and all the seals on the tranny about 6 months ago. It still had a slight drip from the speedo drive, but nothing major.
Funds aren't a problem, I'm just trying to figure out what my best option is to get it back on the road. |

looks like the bearing, or bearing housing got out of round.
Best way to go, get another core and rebuild from there. You have a hosed case. Yes, it could be fixed, but I dont see the point given we can still find cores. rich |
