Looks like you need to add a colon to https in your link.
New Link I believe "Mat" is actually MichiganMat on 914World. He is building a similar 914 with a build thread here. Very cool article and car. Love the way they did the radiators. Mat's build thread: Build Thread |

Yeah guys, that was me and my brother Mike. Really great to see our car featured after so much work. Funny story about the feature: We made the contact at Luftgekult by sneaking the car in, we didn't tell anyone we were bringing a swapped 912 into the show, we just parked it and opened the hood and walked away. The looks we got all day were pretty amazing, we watched from 50ft away, it was awesome.
For all the purists out there, the 912 was swiss-cheese with rust. I mean, I replaced everything on that car: both rockers, both strikers, the front pan, the floor pan, the rear tail light, and so much more. Everything was rusted or busted, so its not like we molested a perfect little car! We perfected it back to normal AND THEN molested it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Im busy building a swapped 914 now, you can follow me on Instagram at @mddavids or our 912 at @912rsti. My 914 build-thread is here: http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.php?showtopic=266259 |

Very cool article and car. Love the way they did the radiators. Mat's build thread: Build Thread Thanks man. Yeah, the radiators were loads of work and there was no guarantee that we would have enough cooling capacity to keep the car cool. We took an aftermarket radiator for a Mini and sectioned it into 3 pieces: 2 for the fenders, 1 for the nose. I had hoped that the rads in the fenders would be enough but turned out we needed the front-mounted rad too. The goal was to not cut the tub in any way, and we accomplished that, but at the cost of 10s of hours of effort. Everything in the nose of the car fits with like 1" or less of room, its all stuffed in there so tight that its hard to believe it would work at all. We got lucky. Mike daily drives it around LA now and the temps are always in spec, that might change if he ever puts it on a race track, who knows. If that happens, well, back to the drawing board, we'll figure something out. |
