WOW!!
I actually got this to work. Unbelievable. Thanks Vegas Racer You da man. Speaking of Vegas, does this car look familiar to you. It was once all black and white with Rivieras and no flares. Came from a Las Vegas Owner. Finally, Here it is the G prod Porsche. Enjoy the pics. Randy This post has been edited by kart54: Feb 2 2006, 09:03 PM Attached image(s) |

Hi Mike,
It's a Kirkey road racing seat with leg additions. Best seat I've ever had. Very comfortable and I sit low enough in it. At a little over 6 feet I had problems with alot of the other seats, my head didn't clear the roll bar by the required amount. Here's a final picture from the back. Randy Attached thumbnail(s) |

Glad I could help. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)
Was the car a racer when it had a Vegas owner? I do not recognise it. I did have a black '74 with Rivieras twelve years ago, but it was bone stock. |

Hi John,
It's been a race car all its life so far as I can detemine. It used to be kind of greenish yellow and was raced in Mexico as the Tecate car. I've been told it was driven in Mexico by a former Champ car driver but I can't confirm that. Owner from 1999 says he has a picture of the car with the driver and the tecate girls draped over the car but I haven't been able to get a copy of it from him. He's retired and traveling the world from what I understand. His last post to me came from the Syrian desert where he and his daughter were traveling on Belgian passports. She looks like Ann Kournikova and wants to be, and is, a danger journalist. If you want to have some fun Google "Meg Smaker" . Her dad is Jon Smaker, the previous owner. I can see a little of the yellowish/green color under the current paint. It was also a metallic blue at some other time. Its taken me a year but I've finally gone completely through the car. The only items left to be done are to finish the paint and get new graphics with Car 54 on it. At some point in time I'll list everything thats been done. It's a long list. Randy |

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/hijacked.gif) that's a 916 style front bumper, can be bought at most of the usual 'glass places that sell 914 parts...couple hundred bucks FYI, the '75/'76 front bumpers are more aerodynamic than both the flat bulldozer looking early bumper or the 916 bumper (many of the kit's such as Sheridian uses the '75/'76 style), and you can mount an oil cooler without cutting the chassis.... Randy, neat looking car, keep us posted on your 1st race and good luck (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) |

Randy, Thanks for the photos. Car looks great! Regarding the seat, etc. I am 6'5" and am in the planning stage on my 914 track car. As with your car, I am looking to put a cage in, but also allow room for the top to be installed on the car AND of course fit in the car with a helmet on. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) How much taller than 6' are you? With the Kirkey seat and helmet on, how much space you do have between your helmet and the line between the main hoop and the windshield (broomstick test)? Did you have to go to heroic measures with regards to mounting the seat to keep it low? Also, would you happen to have any additional photos with respect to the area around the top and behind the driver seat and how you have routed the cage tubing in that area? |

Hey Crazy Hippy,
Nice moniker. I've known Jim Naylor for a quite a while (Promoter at Ventura) and he's doing my new graphics for me on the car and my suit so I figure I can at least promote the "best little dirt track in the west". I've driven a 360 sprinter on the dirt but never a Porsche 914. Actually, some of the parts on my car came from a car that was raced in Santa Maria on the dirt track there by somebody who is on this list or is known on the list. Sorry but can't remember who but he is one of our a parts suppliers. That car was banned because it was too fast. Led every race and won by several laps from what I understand. So, our cars run like snot on dirt tracks but I hope this one will stay on the pavement and not get out into the dirt too often. Randy Ventura, CA |

I've met jim a few times, I'm good friends w/ Wes Richardson (currently driving a 360 Sprint for Ron Baaaach (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) , he's run ponies and modifieds at ventura over the last 5 or 6 years, and this will be his 2nd in a sprint) and have spent way to many nights freezing to death at that track (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)
Great looking car, Good luck w/ it. BJH |
