Fool went out to the garage to get in a little work on the 914 before real work. Sprayed PB Blaster on a bunch of stuff in preparation for an engine drop Sat. Gonna do the cone screw at the tranny. Loosened and moved the black rubber cover and a cup of cold water dumped on my stomach. Shoulda stayed in bed. Hope the rest of the day isn't like that.

Kevin

Its in good shape. Thanks I'll give you a call sometime today. I could sure use a cheerleader Saturday if you are available.

Gonna go take a shower. Only thing sicker than working on the car before work is sitting here checking out the board in a wet sweatshirt smelling like grease and PB Blaster. I'm hopeless.

grease? you must be looking hard for it. i wonder how the water got in? the plan was to come over on sat. list; floor jack, dolly, the correct ratchet tool for the bolts on the cv's, the correct hex drive for the trans drain plugs (you can hold on to it for a while), a couple of old licience plates to help slide the fuel rails thru the engine shelve. how early do you want to start? we are both up while it's the middle of the night.

the fuel rails can get hung up on the shelve. i saw this method at triad. you slide the plate up between the rubber seal and the engine tin where the rails are, the plate acts as a guide and gently moves the rails inboard a bit. works real slick.

The new P-part for that cover comes with a pin hole at the lowest point to let the water drain out. If yours was full of water you might want to drill a hole in yours.
