Yes grasshopper. It is the Holy Grail of expensive sway bars. This one is of the 27mm variety.
We love the turbo 944 caliper upgrades. They fit under 15 inch wheels on Carrera struts with Carrera rotors. B |

What is the difference between Carrera struts and the "other" 911 struts? 76-89?
What is the difference in the rotors as well... ? I have a pair of the 944T front calipers that I am planning on using on my conversion, but I don't know the EXACT other parts pieces that I need... Can someone please fill me in? Thanks, Thom |

Rotors are a little thicker than SC etc. spacing on the brake are wider I’ve got a set of new rotors on the shelf. Also Carrera brake calipers if interested.

Thom,
From 1970-1977 or so... Porsche used a 3 inch bolt spacing strut (caliper mounting ears are 3 inches apart). In 1977 or so they started using a 3.5 inch bolt spacing for the caliper mounting ears. The first 3.5 inch spacing struts I noticed where on Early SC's and cars equipped with Koni's and aluminum calipers. The 944 Turbo calipers have to have BOTH holes machined to fit the 3.5 inch Carrera strut. The 3.5 inch strut started somewhere around 1977 with the 911 SC's where released. My dates/times may be off.. I dont pay much attention to 911 lore. I do know the 3.5 inch started in 1977 with the 3.0 cars. Our 914's have 3 inch spacing for the caliper mounting ears. B |

I *think* the SC's used a 20mm thick rotor and the Carrera used a 24mm rotor (better cooling with the same diameter rotor). So.. Carrera struts with 24mm thick vented rotors is the wat to fly.
They started using 24mm thick rotors in 1984 with the 3.5 inch strut. B |

Just to add to what Brad said - the early 911s with "S" aluminum calipers were also 3.5" spacing. These calipers were on all 911 "S" and were optional on "T and "E" models.

The 3.5 inch spacing started back when the S calipers came out.....19&69 I think.
ALL 911 started using the 3.5 spacing with the SC. |

3.5" became standard on the SC's, but it was available in the 911S configuration with aluminum calipers starting in the late sixties.
