How original do you want it to be, and how much are you willing to pay? If you dont care, Id get some American stuff. Id even go the route John Rogers did, by putting a thinner style carpet directly on the firewall and floors. Search over at Pelican on the 914 board for pics of what he did. I think it looks sharp

Get some of those shag carpet squares. You peal of the paper on the back and they stick to the floor.
Very '70s. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

There is a guy in Amity, Oregon that is making carpeting for the teeners and is selling them on Ebay. Usual prices are from $85 . He has a marine carpet that is a low pile and extra heavy duty. I was thinking of going with some of that.

I used a charcoal colored cut pile marine carpet. (The "marine" part supposedly meant extra UV resistance.) Kind of a salt and pepper look up close, grey with the glasses off.

Looks OK, but cut pile doesn't look quite "period" in the teener. If I had it to do over again, I'd go with the OEM gray Perlon. Saw a concours winning Black -6 done up that way, it was awesome, and it had a definite "vintage Porsche" look.

Supposedly the guy with appbiz... www.appbiz.com has nice carpet kits for the 911 and he has been offering 914 sets on e-bay recently.

He has correct-looking materials too... and a decent pricing.

I would think that this would be a good and inexpensive way to go...

$113 - $139!

My only comment is that he hasn't gotten the driver's side heal pad correct looking (OEM) yet. but for that price, you could sew your own in!

I just ordered some samples of Carpet and Vinyl from World Upholstery. I haven't received the samples yet so I can not comment but you might want to take a look too.

I used a carpet called Detroit loop. (or it might have been American loop) It looks quite similar to the original German loop but the price was almost 1/5th. It is a bit darker than the German but great for a daily driver. I did my whole car, made new floor mats and had an apolsterer (sp) sew the piping were ever it was on the originals all for $100 CAN. ($80 for the carpet that I cut out myself and $20 for the sewing) thats about $65US.
