I need to remove everything from the tunnel in my '74 in order to sand blast away the rust in there.

Is it possible to remove the wiring harness in either direction? If so, which is easier? Pulling then engine end INTO to cabin, or pulling the dashboard end into the engine compartment? Because its a '74, I have those big seat belt interlock relay mounts to deal with as part of the extraction .

The way I removed mine was to pull it into the passenger compartment from the front and back. Gets a little trying but I got it out in as good of condition as it was prior.

all the above.

- rear (trunk + engine etc) goes through the rear firewall inside.

- front (trunk etc.) goes through front firewall inside.

- then, the back part needs to be routed through the tunnel and out in the front.

- that's it. assembly is the reverse.

- i've done that 4 times now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

what grommets?
if you're talking about the big rubber protector on the engine side of the firewall, the whole thing goes through the firewall hole. you don't remove it from the harness.

you might have to take the plastic cover off some of the multi-pin connectors to get them through. just make sure you remember which wire was in which pin-hole. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
