Last weekend I bought the 1970 914-6 advertised in the want ads. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) This was the car in Ohio. I'm just getting the time to start going over it, and wanted to share pictures. I got this car for 12K! More pictures at 1970 914-6
The wheels are in the truck for new rubber tomorrow. I'm pulling the engine Next Monday to go over everything. Valve job, fix oil leaks, clean up everything. (IMG:http://willess.com/raceweb/images/1970%20914-6/P0003763.JPG) |

Those are JFZ calipers. Very popular conversion back in the early 80's.
Nice find. I spoke to the guy but didnt get a chance to "see" his other parts. Keep us up to date on the progress. B |

It has small wheel spacers on it also.. It also appears that it was green at one time.

Sweetness.
As to the heating problem w/your 2.0L, put a fan on it, preferably thermostatically controlled. For my engine I used a similar oil cooler (Mesa) from Kymco (after-market VW). I've seen others use a Rabbit (A1 chassis?) oil temp activated switch (180-degree) to turn on their fans. Also, I would highly recommend keeping the stock thermostat functional no matter where you live as it gets the engine to -- and maintains it at -- operating temperature. Important for engine longevity. |
