(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/uploads_offsite/cache-03.gawkerassets.com-1435-1268538662.2.jpg) I think these would be easy enough to make. I have plenty of ammo cans, some left over RaaMat sound deadener. I'd need speakers, an amp, minijack hookups and some sort of power supply. I can't imagine that it would be hard. I think this is cool, but it is not $600 pounds cool. Not when I can make one myself. Help me find the components to make one. The box pictured uses a 70 watt amp, and a battery pack to be mobile. I think I'd rather be able to plug it in, but having batteries would be nice for backup. Zach |

Cool idea! I'm working on a project using the same T-amp from Parts Express (been using them for years, great company to deal with) and the same Pioneer coaxials (although I'm using 5.25"). That little T-amp rocks, same amp that was used in the Sonic Impact amplifier. I think Parts Express bought the rights to it. No heatsink needed, the chip in the amp barely gets warm. Your gel cell battery should last days before charging. I measured the current draw at an average of 60mA at low volume to up to 250mA during musical peaks.
I found the Pioneers to lack in the bass department so am adding a dual voice coil sub to my speaker box to fill out the lows. |
