I am about to fire up my engine for the first time after rebuilding it. I'm using an L-Jet distributor with no vacuum advance or retard. I'm using carbs.
I'm trying to determine where I should set the dizzy. From what I could gather off the internet, the total mechanical advance for this dizzy at 3600 rpms is 21-25 degrees (I'll average it to 23 degrees). I think 28 degrees total advance is what is recommended as a starting point so am I correct in setting the static timing to 5 degrees BTDC? |
