Just arrived this afternoon from Bethel Park, PA. Absolutely filthy! But.. the car is one owner and only 16,000 miles on her. With alot of elbow grease it should clean up real well. Never seen one so original. Has the original Michi XZ radials, fuel lines that were replaced by the dealer durning the HO campain back in the day, etc. The owner John, hasn't driven her in about 8 years. Certianly needs some TLC to bring her back to her former glory and make her road worthy, but should be quite looker when done. Happy to document anything you guys need for the Originality forum. Thanks again for doing the PPI Bud. Bud and I added her to the Vin section.

lol Eric.. thanks for the compliments guys. The owner John, purchased it new in 1974. It's a 2.0, w/rear window defrost, dark brown interior. He had the dealer take off the alloy wheels because at the time, he didn't care for them. Thought he said it was like a $800 difference in price back then. Will have to get a COA and see what it had from the factory. Has the Coco mats in it, and he also put on seat covers 2 months after purchasing the car. He basically just used it to goto Lake Erie from Pittsburg on weekends. Along with an occasional Jersey shore trip. Unfortunetly, the window sticker, literature, and spare parts were tossed out by his wife. Has the tools and manual still. Could tell this was John's baby over the years. I plan on keeping in touch with him and sending him photos of car shows etc. Very nice guy. Here's a link from Bud's PPI that he did for me.

When I picked up my 72 1.7, the car lacked the 5 1/2" steelies. That was August of 1972. I made an issue of it & the dealer offered me a set of 5 Fuchs (the 73 2.0's were in stock then) from one of the 2 liters, for $300. I didn't care for the at the time & turned him down & demanded my proper steelies, which I eventually got. I sometimes think it was a mistake to not take the offer, but would have had to make a lot of explanations through the years - and probably lost some concours'. Can't wait for more pic's! Pat |
