I'm thinking or purchasing this 1971 914 2.0. See link below. I would like some advise on what to look for for? I know about the basics, rust, oil leaks, interior, but just in general what do you think about this year? I love the looks. I've also would like to know what Porsche 6 cylinder would be a good swap without major modifications and why?

nothing is more important than getting a rust free chassis.
especially hell hole - passenger side long in engine bay. here is a graphic of some places to look for rust. Attached thumbnail(s) |

nothing is more important than getting a rust free chassis. especially hell hole - passenger side long in engine bay. here is a graphic of some places to look for rust. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Unless you've got great rust repair skills and or you enjoy self torture and you live in Cali you should run,I repeat RUN from rusty,crusty cars.Way too many nice ones in that state to punish yourself.Better to start with more money less rust type car.
