How very cool Papa's been nominated!!
There is a LOONG history with Papa Smurf that I would love to write about, if you're REALLY interested, the details are here: http://www.naroescapemotorsports.com/Cars/Papa_Smurf.html The cliff note version is: Papa started out as a stock 1974 2.0 that was Nadine's father's daily driver in Colorado. When we go it, we started doing autocross and a few DE's, until me and Lime Rock Park had a bit of a disagreement (the track won). So, off to the body shop to fix/replace all the body panels except the doors. That's the body that's on him now... Since 2001, we've been developing him and moving the engine from 2.4/4 to 2.0/6, 2.2/6, 3.4/6 now 3.2/6 (maybe soon to be 3.0/6...stay tuned!!) Wing/splitter added in 2012, and lots of little bits here and there along the way... Throughout his career, he has won multiple autocross series championships (men's and woman's), many class wins and podiums in PCA Club Racing, and first in class in his first (and only) SCCA Hill Climb. right now, he is getting an oil starvation issue sorted out, but hope to really work him out in 2014!!
