I like the look (and ease of replacement) of the bolted-on GT flare. Does anyone have detailed (up-close) pics of this treatment? What size/number/type of screws or bolts were used.
Please post pics Thanks BH Attached image(s) |

QUOTE The prices at www.rennspd.com seem very reasonable. Anyone have experience w/ them DON'T DO IT! I bought both bumpers, valance and rockers from them. Every single piece had to be cut and reworked. I have other glass pieces on my car and I got them from Mark Bartosh (classifieds in Pano). My flares came from AIR. Marks stuff is the best. AIR is good. I say this because I want you to know that I realize "all glass" will need "some" work. Rennspeeds stuff needs some "MAJOR" work. At least the batch I got... Rennspeed breakdown: Front bumper - Two left mounts glassed into the bumper. Had to cut the right on and reweld it. Valance - Hung out 1"+ on each side. Had to cut a "v" and reglass them. Serious PITA. Rear Bumper - Had to grind out copiuos amounts from each corner where the car meets the bumper... still finalizing the fit on that one (working front to back) Rockers - concave curve on the top. I will glass in a hinge at the back to emulate the rally car rockers and eliminate the problem with the front fitting and the back side being about 1/2" too high! Need pictures or was that scary enough? E. P.S. I don't want to harp but that was my experience. If any others have had better luck please weigh in... |

Profiles all different, leg widths different. I probably have invested- 3 hours of initial shaping, test fitting, shaping, marking and drilling flares. 6 hours-filling, sanding, blocking, priming, painting all by Scotty 9 hours of installing- including positioning, marking, cutting existing fenders then drilling, re-profiling bottoms of flares, bolting on and installing welting. And looks like I will need to do some work to match one flare to the rocker. I bought mine from patrick and they told me a vendor supplies them. Probably all made by the same vendor ??? Except the full fenders like Sheridan, Patrick, QRs. |
