One car show (no longer held) that I miss today was in Beverly Hills, put on at the MBZ dealership for the local schools Educational Fund. At the year 2000 event there were over 100 cars, mostly Ferrari, Lambo, MBZ, Jag, BMW, there was even a v12 Ferrari engine on a test stand which was revved up at Lunchtime (uncorked (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) ). One group of judges stopped over at our 914 including Jay Leno who asked me some relative Porsche questions...he seemed somewhat knowledgeable about 914 history. In parting he mentions "You know the 914 and 9146 are one of the most underrated Porsches ever built"
He was right on with that observation...my small circle of 914 friends and I knew this from day 1 of 914 ownership ! At the end of that day my car is announced as 3rd place winner in European Street class, so I send my son ( Matty Lite ) up to the podium to take the trophy. Mr. Leno is also the trophy presenter, so Jay and Matt (only 10 years old) traded one liners on the open mic ; best one was how fast does your Dad drive with you in the car ¿ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) |

And now, Jay has been able to drive Eric’s car but what would he think driving Marty’s beast? I think he would need to get one (assuming he doesn’t already have a few).

George, I think he has a silver CGT, a couple 356's and a BMW Isetta...but doesn't seem that his German car appetite is big. As far throwing the keys of my black six to any driver; ever since Don Sherman ( C/D Mag) melted down the engine of our (customer's) MSDS 924 turbo in 1976, it was an expensive lesson learned (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Marty |
