Well Rusty,
Twice before on previous license plate related threads you ask if Carrera PanAmericana rally plates were ever available. I now have an answer to that question. - Yes, if a person is really lucky. I just got these in the mail today. All of them came by way of Luigi Chinetti's Ferrari Garage in New York. Luigi was the co-driver for the winning car in 1951. The 144 plate was never issued. The 20 plate was on the Ferrari Berlinetta that he drove to a third place finish in 1952. The 45 plate was on his Ferrari 340 Vignale Spyder in the 1953 event. He was a DNF. This same important car was raced the following (and final year of the PanAm) by Phil Hill and our famous 914 friend Richie Ginther. They took second place. P.S. - DON"T A$K Attached image(s) |
