Earilier this year, someone did a 3rd gear takeoff up hill which smoke the clutch real bad and caused the speedometer to stop working. My thought is that the speedo cable is broken but wanted other thoughts before I pull and replace it.

Nevermind. I pulled the angle gear off the side of the tranny and realized that it was broken and not the cable.

Nevermind. I pulled the angle gear off the side of the tranny and realized that it was broken and not the cable. How did you determine that, turn the cable in a drill? No, I simply pulled the angle gear off the tranny and spun it with a flat tip screw driver. Because the gear slipped I was almost 100% sure it was bad. I pulled the angle gear off my car and it comfirmed my guess. |
