For two days in a row I have had people come up to me and ask the familiar line, "Hey, what year is that?"
Two days ago, I pulled into my driveway in the mountains and a Jeep Wrangler drove by. Then he stopped and backed up and asked me "What year is that?" Told him and he said he once had TWO of the same model as mine! He laughed and said "Mine used to smoke like that too." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) Found out he lives on the next block! Last night I was leaving Costco. Had my seat belt on, lights on, and was ready to back out. This guy ran across the parking lot and said those infamous words "What year is that?" Then the conversation proceeded as follows: "Did you get a good deal on it?" "Yes" "Did you have to do anything to it?" "I had it repainted and put new floor mats in it." "It sounds great." "Thanks." " I Love These Cars. I've gotta run." And he proceeded to run back across the parking lot. I drove home with Permagrin. Well, mostly because I drive 20 miles of twisties to get home. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) |

Kinda related. In college, 1975 or so, had a 1971 914. Parked outside of a bar. Guy sitting on the hood and I politely asked him to get off, it might scratch the paint. He complied and left.
Couple minutes later he drives over in his 911, shouts out "Sorry I sat on your car" and drove off. I can still hear him cackling, fading into the distance, to this day. NARP indeed! biz |

Man - I feel terrible when I read shit like this. I must be a bad person - I will absolutely, without a stitch of hesitation, beat the holy hell of any bastard found SITTING ON MY CAR.... He would have said his sorry out of his ass while they were loading him in the ambulance. Maybe I got problems with anger or whatever, but that is definately a scenario that would make the short list of things that would set me right off. When I was 17 - I came out of a house party - to find three big ass samoan dudes sitting on the hood of my 1980 Toyota Corolla - They had the frt license plate touching the ground - My friend was with me and he just about shit when I told these three fat bastards to get their asses off my ride. I said "that aint no couch you fat bastards", I must have been raving cause they started apologizing. My point is that in situations like that I have absolutely no control over my actions. I mean shit, they were sitting on my car!!!! So, Did you get his license number??? Maybe we can look him up.... |

I have complete control over my actions and I would probably do the same thing, even though my paint is less than perfect. Does that make me a bad person... Maybe... BTW, I had a guy today at work say ,"Hey, is that a '63." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/WTF.gif) I'm like, "63?!? Nah, it's a '70. They only sold these from 1970-1976." He responded, "Oh..... that's badass." And that was it. He obviously doesn't know anything about it, which is fine, but why not just ask the year instead of pulling some random number out of your ass. 'It's better to be silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.' ....That may sound harsh for such an innocent comment, but I work with the guy, he's a dumbass! Mark D. |

Mark D. 914 owners are the smartest people on the face of the eath.... By way of comparison all others are dumbasses - so take it easy on him... |
